This morning i fired her up and put heater on right away.
Went to Kiekos to get some copys made.Came out and she won't start.Turns over, then dies.I'm WTF,its never done this before.
Called my mechanic,he comes,trys this,and that.He thinks its my fuel pump.He calls a wrecker,to tow to his place.I wait 1 1/2,hours.
I try to start it,fires right up like nothings wrong.YEAAH! I call my guy back,to tell him to cancel wrecker. My mechanic wants to check
it out tomorow,to check fuel pressure, with some gizmo.
Any thoughts ,its running fine now ??

see ya,old retired guy:cheers:frd

Did you use the copy key to try to start it with when it would not start?

And then the original key later when it started?

Water in fuel? Although that doesn't typically correct itself just by sitting for a while.

The way I understood it was the truck would crank over, but wouldn't fire... correct? If that is the case, the solenoid would be fine.

I went to my mechanic's house,to give him $20 bucks,
for helping me yesterday. So for now we're going to go
the wait and see ,rout.Because it's running fine now.
He still thinks it's the fuel pump.
So,i'll WAIT and SEE and hope for the best.

Yeah, whatever happened will happen again... and may stay broke this time. Hard to pin down intermittent problems.

By solenoid, i mean the ignition coil pack (duh) sorry.

I've had them before where when they get hot, they just fail like that, but once cooled down, they work again.

Any chance he tried to start and keep it running using starter fluid?

FWIW, I've had intermittent fuel system problems in years gone by ultimately proved to a flaky fuel pump relay in one instance and fuel pumps on two different occasions. The latter was more difficult to confirm before replacing the bad part. :(

Yes,he did try starter fluid. It tryed to start but died
a second later.Mabey it is a flaky relay.I don't want to
spend $200-$250 on a new pump,plus labor.
old retired guy :(:cheers

Please clarify...does "tried to start" mean that it did in fact, start and run for a split second then die?
