trucks been off the road for entirely too long, had a rebuild happen where she got stripped down to a short block and got brand new heads and other bits. truck idles smoothly which is why i am super confused on this problem, but i can pull the wires off the coil pack across the drivers side of the motor with no change to the idle whatsoever. there is spark on all 3, all 6 wires are brand new, the 6 plugs are all brand new and gapped correctly. everything seems correct but if i put load on the motor it feels absolutely gutless and starts misfiring like mad. but at idle it purrs smooth as can be like its running on all 6 even as i pull wires from the drivers side.

i will try to figure out how to get a video file to link that shows the problem since it is hard to describe.

I don't have Facebook so I can't see video...

I would check coil to plug wiring first. For the OEM coil pack the plug wire order is

Windshield     4 6 5
                          3 2 1   front of truck

Is it throwing any codes?

Are all of the vacuum lines in the right place and there are no leaks? (Smoke test for leaks)

When it is idling is there an even flow from the exhaust? Just checking to make sure there are no rats nest in the exhaust and the cats are not clogged.

PCV valve clogged? Bad Idle Air Control Valve (usually rough idle but bogs out under load)? Bad MAF or weak coil pack? Fuel Pressure?

Off by one tooth on timing when the head was re-installed. Computer can adjust for idle but not for load.  (Grasping here as that only works one way)

There is a lot that can affect idle/no power issues

JAMMAN  has pics...

Look in this thread: https://ford-rangers.com/forum48/1399.html

Scroll down to the second coil pic, the one with the vertical pigtail plug.

The coil is marked and the cylinder arrangement is in the first pic of the thread.
Looks like you might have 2 wires in the wrong place on the driver side.
Did you put a coil on it or is that the original?
If the wires are in the right place and it is still a turd you might have put the timing chain on a tooth off or you might have the cam synch 180 out. It will run with the cam synch in any position or completely unplugged but acceleration is a trick and it will certainly throw a code.

coil pack is the MSD unit I put in a while before she broke down. none of your guys suggestions fit the bill due to her having no problem with acceleration and shes got plenty of power under load to spin the 33s.and no misfire. only code she has thrown is for the downstream o2 sensor having a bad connection. i never messed with the timing components so if that is off it jumped itself as it was great before the motor was torn down to a short block.

So you fixed the original problem? I thought it was gutless during acceleration and starts misfiring?

i have a feeling the gas went bad in the 4 months it sat, now it seems to have full power of running on all 6, its not misfiring or anything but the entire driver bank seems dead by spark test so i really have no clue whats going on with her anymore.
