I'm wanting to replace the brittle vacuum tubing on the exhaust side of my 98 Ranger 2.5. It's got 399,000 miles and I'm almost out of splicing points to use the rubber tubing. I know I could use all new rubber hose but I know someone in the past has told me you can get all new vinyl tubing similar to the original. I've actually got the factory new harness for the one going into the evaporator but I think I've got to take evaporator housing off. I need to replace the hose leading to the engine. I think I found some from Dorman in the 5/32" outside diameter and it's like .097 inside diameter. I measure the inside diameter with a digital caliper and it's pretty close. Just wondering is there a certain one that someone knows fits.

You don't have to remove the evaporator box to change the vacuum harness. It's underneath it. Removing the wheel well helps, and just drop the glovebox.

When mine broke I just replaced the whole thing instead of splicing it. Explorer's have the same vacuum setup so I got one off of those.

When i was done I rotated the 4 port heater control valve to move the harness farther away. Haven't had an issue since doing this about 12 years ago.
