JB weld is good for metal, aluminum, things that need to be sanded.
Epoxy is good for plastic but must be able to hold up to the heat inside a headlight
Clear silicon will work for most uses in there to keep things in place
E6000 adhesive is the best choice for this, that hobby adhesive is the shiznit (alot like shoe goo, but perfectly clear)

Well I'm in the sh!t then !
Actually I wish I had the original seller of the parts do the work but I didn't have an extra $750 to do the job AND I thought I would do it.
This getting old thing really $ucks !

'06 Mirrors - Pulled the OEM Mirror Glass, came out way to easy... not sure why or how, didn't need heat !

Just need to go through my parts supply and find the new Glass and Wiring for the Heaters.
Don't need the Heat but I have it so I will hook it up.
Is it worth replacing the Motors inside of the Mirrors now rather than finds out later that they don't work ?

Thx, I will install for now and see how they work out.

----------------

I did a little work on the Grille, installing the Raptor Lights, not the usual kits, this is something I put together.

I looked at the Bar Grille I installed, thought, Self... ya Boss, how do I mount three lights in this grille that will hold together, not weaken the grille, and look ok.
I m not really looking for the Raptor look but you get the idea, three light, the same spacing as the clearance light on big trucks.

I decided to use some 7/8" flat aluminum stock, drilled the three holes in it and centered on the bar grille.
As I see it, the correct positioning of the lights on the grille is centered and 1.5" below the hood edge, so I marked the grille so the lights end up centered on the grille going across the truck and as it turns out centered one of the bars, that works so I can use the bar as the mounting points.

I took the grille off the truck, marked the position based on above and positioned the holes I drilled for the lights.  Marked the holes on the grille bar and cut the holes for the lights to fit through.
Drilled some holes in the aluminum bar stock one on each side of the light mounting holes, marked the bars on the grille, drill some holes and Pop Riveted the bar to the grille.

Painted things black, got some paint on the grille, no biggy hoping to paint it anyway.

Right now the Grille is on the truck, I installed it to use it to position holes so the lights and wiring can go through the radiator support and then the wiring begins !
Thinking of using the Grille Lights and the new Running/Directional Lights as daytime running lights...  any thought ?

As I have said, Audio is in and the sound is good, SirusXM is setup, sound is good, Apple Play is working and interesting, Siri works... I like that; Headlight aren't here, Mirrors are started.

I got two picture of the new Grille Lights.
The first one shows the Aluminum Flat Stock I used to mount the lights, I was gogint o cut the aluminum down in-between the light holes but I decided to leave it for now and see how it looks after driving with it for a while.
Color of the Grille s a little faded, I'm thinking a Stain Finish Back repaint, also a little larger letters.

This is I backed up a little.
No Projector Headlights... YET !
I added a Bush/Light Bar, and an LED Bar.

The Bush/Light Bar and the Bumper is Designed and built by Custom 4x4 Fabrication - the name has changed to Mike's Metal Fabrication.
He does great work, he and I designed and built a custom rear steppie bumper that matches the front bumper and wraps around the end of the steppie bed.
Turned out not too bad !

Pulled the Mirror glass the other day, yesterday I pulled the wiring through the mirror housing for the directionals and the heaters, simple enough.
I expected there to be a lot of bend and tight places, but the wire slipped through with out any major issues, I did use a Needle Nose Pliers to grab the wire when threading it inside of the housing.
Today I'm looking for a smaller Conves Mirror, 3"H x 4"W (?), I would like something that secures solid on the bottom of the Mirror Housing but not finding much.
Once I get the Mirror thing figured out I will slap the mirrors in place.

Jamie, Yes and No !
I want a Convex Mirror, that will fit under the '06 Ranger Mirrors, but I really want a Rectangle, something in the area of 4.5" wide x 3 or 4" high, maybe a 4" square will work for the driver's side.

I know I will probably end up with a round mirror because first I can't find the rectangle version the size I want, and two, the ones out there that have the slide on clamping do not work well at all.  they are designed for the masses and build that way.

I now have some of the aforementioned slide on clamp type and it is holding up so far without a car wash, but the view is very limited and the mirror is a plastic chromed over...  the reflection is poor at best.

I spent most of yesterday afternoon looking for something, did searches in every wording I could think of, without results that were acceptable to me.
I will do some more today, raining and is suppose to for three or four days.

At least I have the wires through the housings on the '06's.

Ltr

When I had the '88 Ranger, with the Loop Type of Mirror Mounting, I like those, I had mounted on the Driver's side a 4" Round Mirror in the Loop of the Mirror mount.   It was the best location, never got hit, never got bent from Washing, was always there, it allowed me to see my rear tires and rock while working around them.   I was trying to get the same rearward look BUT I don't remember if they were Convex or Flat Glass.

I also wanted to mount the Mounting Brackets with through bolts while I have access to the insides, a little LockTite and all done.

88 mirrors are flat glass
They are HUGE
88 also still had wing windows
My 86 F250 plow truck uses same mirrors as my 88 Bronco II, and my 97 F350 came with a similar style. All 3 trucks have wing windows
You can see alot with those big honkin things hanging off your doors that is for sure!
You can see what I choose to keep and drive..........I can have any year Ranger based vehicle I want and yet I still cling to a 1988 Bronco II :)
Long live wing windows and huge side mirrors!! LMFAO

FYI the new raptor light setup with the black metal bar looks way better....nice work!
Ford has a new raptor coming that will make the old one look like a kids toy

I didn't know there was a new Raptor coming out.
What kills me is the prices... how does anyone afford one 60K+ ?
Even the F-150 XLT, $48K, WTF !

Yup those '88 Mirrors were the best and the Wing Window, too bad they got rid of them, no window up problems either with the Guide in a closer placement.
I'm sue redoing the Wings was a money thing, too bad so many people accept things as is !

Here ar etch wires so far.

The Connector n the left is for the Directionals, the two other wires are for the Heaters and I still need to run two wires for the Puddle Lights !

I would not replace the motors especially if they are stock Ford parts....the mirror motors never ever ever go bad.
Cant wait to see how this turns out as Eddie Money has me putting some custom mirrors together for his truck too......

The new trucks are well up over 50K and some of them over 100K now.... but then a simple cell phone can also cost $1200+ these days....its all about the financing! Ill stick with my old paid off trucks instead and build them into raptors myself LOL

Me too on the older PAID OFF Truck !

My Wife keeps saying go for it, buy a new one, but I'm thinking it is for her own satisfaction not mine.

I was hoping for some great pricing on the trucks over the Quarantined Time, they are offering 84 months of free financing but you have to qualify and spend enough money.

I would still like to pickup a nice '88 BII, but as new trucks people think vehicles are made of gold.   $$$ hungry !

I decided to day not to use the puddle lights in the mirror, I will attempt to either drill a gol din the bottom of the door or make a PVC Mount for for the LED  Light , still up in the air for that.
The lens is flat so I don't believe I will have a problem with space under the door.
I've been looking at some 1st Gen Bronco II's, some 1988s and some earlier versions '84 through '87, most are too expensive for they are offering, I did find one that I wanted, a 1988 with 60K miles, one owner, outside and inside very clean, almost new looking.   Price would have been higher than others but it was a nice B-II, and it was gone before I could get a bid in on it.  Maybe for the best.
Once this BS on the Corona Virus is over I can get my truck to a friends shop, and get the Headlights and the Power Window and mirrors installed.

The Mod'd Radio Bezel

Will be adding a Switch Panel under the HVAC Controls to the floor.  The 4x Sw, the Power Port, the USB/3.5mm Data Port and a USB Charging Port to that panel.

Just rereading my Threads...

The '88 Ranger had the same large outboard mounted mirrors as the larger truck form the same time period, luv'd them.

The '03 might look a little funny with them, to at least I was thinking that.

I have a Black Set, purchased from Ford Years back, had them on my '88 STX, replacing the chrome ones, before selling the '88 I swapped them out and put them on a shelf, still on a shelf but in SoCal now.

I will have to pull them off the shelf and see just how bad they will look.

If I didn't mention before, can't remember, I got my headlights, the Halos look to me to be off center a little, I should have had one of the High end Pros do the job.   Not sure they would have done the job right, according to Grev B, but I might have felt better and wouldn't have gotten stuck for additional mailing costs.  Ltr

Here is the latest picture of the front end of the Ranger EDGE.
Things are secured but you get the idea.
Fog Lights need to installed in the Bumper, Grille Trim needs to be installed and the Skid Plate.

Got the DRLs figured out, Under-Hood Fuse #41 has power on it when the key is on.
Should make the best location for the Relay actuation power.

Next is finish Horn wiring (Hella set of 2), then on to Fog Lights, well maybe I need to visit the Honey-Do List !

I decided to use the Halos as Directional Enhancing Lights, (DELs - LoL) !
The Hallo Directionals will be on the low power and the Halo DRLs will on the high power position.
The Grille Lights will be just on !

Also, found my HD Dual Relays (2 ea.)... oldies but goodies !   Still working after all these years.

Decided on a different circuit for the new DRLs, F1-31, sub F2-2, works as it should "Hot on Run"  and it is for the DRLs but I didn't have them !
DRLs are wired, have the new relay and Socket, should have the relay done in a couple of days.
New Hella Horns are almost wired, waiting for the relay to be wired in.
Headlights are just waiting for the alignment, seem to work.
DRLs almost done, New Horns almost Done, Projectors almost done... Mirrors next, need new puddle lights and thinking on directional towards the front... ???? not too sure what is happening with the Mirrors, need to sort it out.  Puddle Lights are a strong maybe but the directional lights hold a low priority.
Power Windows next ??????? not sure a lot of sorting before I attempt that... one window at a time, oh ya there is only two !
Will be using the Write-up on Wiring Power Windows without an OEM Harness.
At my speed forward, I'm thinking another week to finish the three project in teh works now, and then two more weeks to get the Windows Parts together.

Where we stand as of today, 10/11/2021 :

The headlights are in and working... high/low beams.
Grille Lights are in and wired for DRLs.
The Halos on the Projector headlights are wired to the DRL Circuit and working with the Grille Lights.
By making the Halos Amber I can't use the Switchback function, the stay amber all the time.   When I hook them up for white they don't match the Grille Lights.
Looks like I will have standard directional bulbs for now, I still have the SideMarkers modified to Directional/Markers.
Hella Horns replaced and wired but they don't sound like I thought they would, they're almost tinny sounding, I'm thinking they may be too close to the Air Tunnel in front of the radiator.
All I need to do now is secure the grille and install the Grille Shell.
Mirrors coming up next... maybe in the next week or so !
