OK on the Trucks story... my first ws an '88 STX 5.0L, second was a plain Jane "95 XL 2x, and my latest is the '03 Red Ranger EDGE Steppie.

I am still working on the headlight projector project, and the 5.0 is pending a few niches I need to cover.

The 06 powered, Mirrors, are in the bin too but not untilI get the powered door project started.

There is always something to do.

Thanks for the reply.

Wow, you have quite the history!

Do you have a build thread or picture album somewhere? Yours sounds like a build I would like to read about!

And I hope you encounter less issues than I am with my power swap!

I do have a history build on Ranger-Forums.com but not much here... may have to cut and paste some of it.

But I have been working on it for a while and nothing seems to get done.

So this is a post I never wanted to make, and honestly I still don't even want to type this. Today at 7:48am I slid off of a highway on ramp (not speeding, just rainy) and rolled. 4 times. I am unsure what my plans for the truck are now but I am only allowed to park it for 30 days before I scrap it unless I for some reason decide to keep her still... idfk... If you want any parts shoot me a message (or post on this thread) any offers, I want to know if I scrap it or keep it.

Just weighing my options and thinking out loud... Not gonna edit anything.

Not sure if I am sticking with Rangers or doing the 150 mod yet. Time will tell. Stickshift no matter what tho.

Yea... Shoot me offers if you want anything I guess.

It does suck, but my passenger and I walked away with bruises (stupid me kept big items in the cab!)

Wow a deer in December then this, so glad you are OK these are tough little trucks.

I'll be first to request the rear end if it is a torsen. Probably the J hooks too.

Really too bad you can't keep it to get the new one up and going quickly.

Yeah. I do not have the best driving luck, but I guess that's what happens when you're always driving, huh?

I actually have a spare rear axle (torsen 31 spline) and tow hooks right now that i guess I won't be needing, if you're fine driving up to pick it up (I can't drive it to ship it or to your door Right now) feel free to PM me an offer for them!

My plan is to strip and store all usable parts I can before the 30 days are up and then move the truck to its next chapter in life. Hopefully down the road I get another fun Ranger toy but that won't be what I get next.

So the past few days I've been looking at buying all sorts of vehicles... For some reason Rangers near me have jumped high in price, something I wouldn't pay more than a grand for is getting listed and sold for well over 2 grand! And every other stickshift truck (I actually looked at Chevy trucks... Help!) Is the same way.

Doing some research, as long as my frame is straight, my best option is looking to be a cab swap, new doors, fenders, and a custom bed. So River may just be road worthy once more! Hopefully taking her to a body repair shop Friday to get the frame checked.

I guess an update is way overdue, huh?

I took River to a body shop shortly after my last post and they said the frame looked fine. So rebuild it is!

I have a friend who is letting me use their shop as much as needed for as long as needed. Hopefully the truck will leave my back yard next week and end up there.

Everything on the truck higher than the frame that is not interior parts is for sale, as most of it is wrecked and all of it is getting replaced, prices are crazy cheap!

Next up... Parts!

First thing I picked up was a cab from a 2010 Ranger. Amazing condition with preventable surface rust on the rockers. Then I dropped it when removing it from the trailer and messed up the rockers, so I will either bend them back if able or be forced to replace them.

Then, I accidentally bought a 2004 hood at the junkyard

Now all I need is a bed, doors, and fenders. And a few days to paint/weld/assemble.

In the meantime, I am driving Kevin, the 1988 Nissan Pathfinder!

No problem! I always want to update as things happen, but to fund school and a frame off rebuild for a truck, I have been working as much as I can. Now with school starting I am going to be mostly studying and working on weekends if I am available. Goal is to drive her home and store her during winter, but we will see.

My thoughts as well. I was finally getting to the point (financially and physically) that I wanted to be with my truck and then accidents kept happening. At least now I can do everything I planned all at once. I have a lot of fun new tools, parts, and many eager friends to help with the build, so pictures will be posted as often as possible along with progress notes!

Progress since my last post: I have transported the truck (Kevin does not mind the weight at all) and stripped the 2010 cab of all but windows and the XM antenna.

Glad it worked! I use that all the time!

On a separate note, I feel like I am reliving 2015... Two months after I buy a new truck to replace the totaled one, something major breaks the day before classes start. Kevin is now sitting in a puddle of his own tranny fluid an hour and a half away from home.

It really does suck! Best I can tell it is the seal for the torque converter but I don't really care, it is just another reason to hate automatics and it'll be a stick soon enough.

After a crazy weekend, I drove to West Virginia to pick up a bed and doors, and I went to Lansing to get Kevin back. Pictures following.

No it is not! Mazda bed all the way! I figured if I'm going to do this, I'm going to do this right. Sure i can find a fleetside bed and slap it on, but I love the stepside look Mazda beds have without the drawbacks of a stepside bed (fiberglass and smaller). Since i am going for a 2010 truck end game anyways, I figured I may as well make it a STX in the rear and a Level 2 everywhere else. Found this bed 3 stares away and decided with its condition, it was worth the drive!

Yeah it does! Sure got a lot of weird looks driving all the way from West Virginia to Michigan like that!

Update time... Lots of small things. I went to visit the truck yesterday and noticed something... Mold. Everywhere. Most of the plastic parts I am not worried about as I can clean them off, but I am worried about the dash/wiring/airbags, the seats, and the seat belts. Soon I want to come back and remove the belts, seats, and doors to protect all that I can.

For now, I worked on taking off the bed. I took most of the bolts out, but because of all the broken glass I need to vacuum the bed to remove the last two.

When removing everything valuable from the bed, I removed the fenders. Guess what I found behind the drivers side one? A spare key! Wish I knew it was there for the past 3 years, it would have been very handy to have!

I also have an issue with the Mazda doors... The trim is missing from them leaving holes all around the door. As much as I like these doors, I am unable to live with that. If anyone can find me the trim they need or is willing to trade Mazda doors for Ranger ones, let me know!

Next, just some pictures to show how damaged the bed is:

And how she is sitting now:

Update time!

Went to remove the door panels (which I did) and ended up accidentally removing the whole front end.

Hood removed. Anyone want it? not damaged and I have a different hood I want to put back on.

Next the front bumper... Not keeping this either.

Finally the fenders. Should be obvious I am not keeping these, they have been damaged since the deer in December

How the truck sits now:

And a bed full of scrap!
