Well. Most of you know me, I am the residential Ranger Gal on this here forum.
I will be giving the breakdown of my lovely Ranger.
SO! Backstory right quick.
This truck was bought in my family in 2010. One owner, some old man had it. Barely I believe 50K miles? All stock. Still had the original Ford dealers sticker on the back window. Was awesome. Was ugly as sin too. Fiberglass camper shell. My dad used it to drive to work in PA (Mind y'all, we're in podunk BFE Florida). It was a work truck. He ended up lifting it with the help of my little 9-10 year old self on "make sure the truck does not fall on dad" watch. 4" Maxtrac Spindles, 3" body lift kit, blocks on the leaf springs. Made it sit at 7". A 7.5" open ford axle with 4.10 from LKQ. And a set of BF Goodrich 33x10.50r15 with stock plasti dipped wheels. It was a cool little truck. I turned 16(got my permit a year later than usual) and was asked which vehicle I wanted. The 2005 Ranger or our 1993 F250. I had so many memories with my best friend(my father) in that little silver Ranger, that I chose that. I deemed it named Tonto. (After the Lone Ranger). I turned 17, got my license and began driving and building my dream truck.

I am sure there is so much more. I have put my heart and soul into this damn thing. I've done all my own work, with the help of my dad and my hubby. It is my baby. I have a huuuuuge list of plans for this thing. I have only begun. I plan to take this truck to the grave with me and be buried with it.
Plans:
SO, some of you know, I bought a 2000 Ford Explorer 5.0 2wd 4R70W Eddie Bauer. 101k on the odometer, I paid $500 for it. Titled from some Egyptian dealership by my work. The transmission pan leaks so it does not hold fluid(held enough to make it home though), which is why it was so cheap. Along with missing catalytic converter and front seats. It was a parts vehicle, and I bought it as that.
Now, what am I going to do with that little 5.0?
I'm gonna stuff it in my 2005 Ford Ranger. :)
I am fortunate enough to be in love and dating a dude whom happens to work at a performance transmission shop 15 minutes from my work.
And they specialize in building automatic (especially the 4R70W) transmissions.
So I have decided to buy a fully built transmission to last me a lifetime.
My truck is 2wd, as is the Explorer. This is perfect. Because I won't have to worry about transfer cases or any 4x4 parts.
I will keep it 2wd, for the sake of ease and that I do not drive in snow. I have gone anywhere a 4x4 has gone, because big tires and knowing how to drive.
The driveshaft is the same in length. 4Door Eddie Bauers had the same wheelbase as the SCSB Rangers. So I will keep that.
I am fortunate enough to also own. 3 welders. And I behold the skill to do the required modifications to swap the 8.8 31 Spline Explorer axle to my ranger. Disc brakes. LS (axle tag tells all, just don't know gear ratio, but I plan on getting a set of 4.56 or 5.13, have not quite decided on ratio).
I know a guy whom does ECU flashing and he can reprogram either computer to withhold what tune I would need.
Having a 2005, no PATS or power locks/windows, so I will not be adding those. Keeping it manual. Just for convenience.
I plan on fully rebuilding this 5.0 to perform. Estimating 350-400 HP to the wheel. Forged internals. Beefy cam. It'll be built.
Possible turbo or supercharger added later down the line.
The wiring will be the only hard part. I have had a few ideas. Holley makes a wiring kit for the 5.0L and 4R70W, but I will not need this, because I am going to be doing a manual valve body in the 4R70W, so I will have no need for a transmission controller.
I am deciding on buying another engine bay harness to chop up and somehow make it work from 5.0L to Ranger. I have all Ford manuals and wiring books, so I have been doing my research.
Stay tuned! I will be posting status updates and otherwise here.
