I'm bring my project home next weekend if all goes right, and I've decided against relocating the filter EVEN THOUGH I already have the Hayden adapter in place. My 97 motor was born with the adapter/water cooler option. Looking for a stock one without the water cooler.

Thanx-

Would appreciate it sir, shipping to 43123 and price. PM me.

I already have the hayden on there but since there is really no need to relocate one on a 2000 I'm trying to minimize the steps till completion.

Do you have the number for that bottom hose too? Is it just a stock radiator hose from an expo beyond the year with the stupid oil cooler?

Yay thanks. I don't want to have the project trailered to my house, I'm thinking licensing it and renting a dolly might be less expensive. Or I could slap a plate on it from one of my other green 2000 rangers and hope not to get pulled over!

I would have been more disappointed that you sandblasted an oil filter!
Throw me a price and shipping to 43123, Jamie hasn't found one yet but I'm not in a hurry. Might get them both so I have a spare!

I forgot how they attach I haven't seen the original in a long time. Someone throw up a picture when you have a minute? Just wondering if I destroyed anything I actually needed during the conversion I did.

they attached with a big through bolt and O ring: I believe it is 7/8"? don't quote me on that.....

I did not look yesterday, if you want to get the powdercoated one please do then I can keep mine in my collection :) Anytime I do a conversion with the 96-97.5 engine I REMOVE the oil cooler, so I use these things alot

FUNNY STORY, I just googled "explorer 5.0 oil filter adapter" and the picture above came up from full size bronco forum. Why is that funny? Well that is a picture I took many many many years ago of an engine I bought back in Colorado to revive a certain 5.0 Explorer. I was a little worried about the smashed oil filter but did not think much of it. Well I should have. I went through the trouble to refresh and install that engine into a 98 Explorer I wanted to flip. This must have been 12-15 years ago now? Anyways the dang truck/engine had no oil pressure. I tried to fix it in the truck to no avail, after a few weeks of messing with it now I had a ton of money into a truck with no oil pressure.. It ran for 5-15 minutes while I was troubleshooting with no oil pressure.
I lost interest in the project and put it to the side. My stepson ended up buying this truck from me for his wife. He and his brother pulled the engine and replaced the oil pump. Oil pressure fixed....but the damage to the 5.0 was done, it had a slight knock after that. I believe they drove it like that for 7 years or so? Until the knock got worse and the oil leaks from their oil pump replacement got pretty nasty..they put another 5.0 in that truck from a 60K explorer.......that truck changed hands from one stepson to the other, bought it for his wife. That truck is still sitting outside RIGHT NOW, although the engine in that picture is long gone.... The explorer in question now is 4x4, is custom from bumper to bumper even has green monstaliner (it was burgundy) and James's wife drives it daily.
Funny what google brings up when you have been posting explorer 5.0 pictures for 20+ years now.....
So yeah I will never install another engine without removing the oil pan and checking the oil pump and oil pump drive. If I had just removed the cam sensor and oil pan I would have seen the oil pump drive shaft snapped in two......but then that explorer would have been long gone by now, instead it has hauled my two grand kids home from the hospital, received a 60K mile drivetrain along with a 4x4 conversion, custom interior, paint and even a junk yard set of TMH......that explorer taught me a valuable lesson and has served this family very well for the last 10+ years....

OK my needs have changed, I need the bolt too as I'm sure I didn't save mine and it wouldn't have fit anyway. Which one of youn's has the bolt?

And I too have noticed that SBF's seem to have a longer than normal knock life... I worked at a gas station in Walled Lake Mi. and every morning for 2 years this LTD station wagon with either a 302 or 351 (never stopped him to ask lol) would pass by on the way to his work... hammering away. Way obvious because he had a muffler which was rare for the era.

Knock never changed, never got worse just knocked.

Anyhow one or both of you price the bracket with bolt and shipping to 43123. Hope it fits in a medium flat rate USPS box which is $13.20

I don't know if I still have one, not for sale, but the Ford 300 Inline Six had a 90 degree Oil Filter adapter, just the adapter/filter, AND since the 300-6 took the same filter as the 302... I would make the assumption, sort of like assume, that it would work on the 5.0L.
The one I have was given to me by a friend, it was going o be used this time around for my 5.0L swap, which hanse happened, and although I haven't fit it to the block but it should work.
If I get some time today, going to pickup the new 1911, 9mm, and order a Patio DIY Fireplace Kit, but I will try and see if I can trace one down.

This is what it looks like AND the price new is high $90 +, but thinking there has to be an old 4.9L in the JY somewhere.

Since the expo 302 is the one that dodges the "stuff" in a Ranger, the bracket (to be safe) I would want directly off an expo 302. I'm sure many others would probably work but my inventory of stuff I might not use is getting larger by the day LOL and I need the room.

I might be selling some stuff here in a few months after I get the first project almost done. I have collected a lot of crap "just in case" and it is time to use it or get rid of it.

I like that one, looks smaller.

the explorer filter mount is WAAAAY longer then those old 289/302 mounts it has to be to clear the rack and pinion and cooling hoses.. If the 302 is going into a 98+ ranger or explorer you will NEED the explorer version of the adapter, the short ones will not work.......
