Red Screen Of Death. I bet the flow over there went down to 15% like immediately.

I didn't like getting redirected to fileshare either before the red screen. I've seen it on my servers back in the first few years of hosting. Eventually the host or datacenter will just shut them off I'm amazed it hasn't happened. I've shut customers off for getting viruses. Happens mostly from ancient installs of WordPress never updated and old PHPBB installs not updated. You have to take care of stuff like that the day it happens, and it still takes 3 or 4 days for the trust to come back but come on...it has been weeks now maybe months. No excuse.

I've been over to FRF recently and IMHO, it has the death rattles.

I think by the time the majority of us actually stop posting altogether its be a cemetery..

I've been trying to catch new comers as stragglers sending invites here & there..

Yeah, it's amazing how quickly users drop off - i said it over there, but when i first started looking for Ranger stuff several months ago, a lot of useful looking links were for there.

Problem being, after opening several tabs in the background, they'd all gone to that filehost site, so i figured, oh, old dead domain, and ignored them.
Took a while before i realised what was actually happening and started being able to visit there.

There is still plenty of good info at FRF and R-F... just not much new action.

EDIT:  It is only a matter of time before the owner(s) pull the plug and it is all gone.

The owners won't have to pull the plug. I have seen it where the domain name itself gets whacked at the DNS level for malware distribution. I'm amazed it has not happened yet at FRF. It already has fallen off the earth on google searches.

Coming from a guy that isn't even in the google searches yet lol. Give it time.

Yeah. Surprises me as well. The sad part is that all the years worth of how-tos and valuable info will disappear with it. Bad enough that Photobucket borked so many good how-tos... rendered them somewhat useless.

Agreed, that kind of thing saddens me as it's the whole lost, like tears in the rain....

It also worries me as though the Ranger hasn't been made for a long time and a lot of people have lost interest in them, i have only just begun my ownership and i love this kind of information, only to find it's dropping away from under me.

Back in the day, if you did that on FTE when Ken Payne was around, he'd go into meltdown and yes, you'd get an unplanned vacation. Gotta realize however, that back then getting a vacation on FTE was literally a rite of passage. :)

I've posted the link to here on FB {for Public...} and will be bumping it daily.
I think we're at the genisis of what should be a kick ass site for Ranger owners.
I've been/am a member of several vehicle specific forums {as well as moded/admined on same} and what I see here is nothing but positive and fertile for growth.
If every member promoted this place just imagine the growth.

BUT, I would also recognize the increased need for vetting potential members too.
Like I said, I've been there, done that and only have 1 t-shirt for my efforts {...from HOG....} as a Mod/Admin of over 20 years, so my hat is off to Jim, MaDMaXX,  Mike69, et al for the work that you really do here and even more so for the work y'all are looking at in the future once this place kicks in the afterburners.

F-R rocks!
Spread the word!
;)

Cool thanks :)

Don't forget Chris he doesn't even own a Ranger and does a lot of behind the scenes code modifications.

They *DO* sell Rangers in the UK, right?  Chris, we will let you call it a lorry if you really want to, ya know! :)

Yes - we have new Rangers that you don't have :)

I have a severe lack of parking space just at the moment - Renault Clio, Rover 75, Mercedes L808D horse box, MGB V8, MGBGT x2, Austin Healey Sprite,  Ford Fiesta van. I need to move some of them on!

I wouldn't call a flatback Ranger a "lorry" it is a "Pickup" over here ;)

Oh boy next thing you are going to tell us is you drive on the opposite side of the road or something.  :hi

Wonder how one of the new ones would look with bed removed?
