My daughter scored tickets to the Winnipeg Jets vs. Nashville Predators game tonight. She is a big Preds fan and has met most of the team.  These are the only 2 teams I keep up with through the season.  The Jets used to be the the Atlanta Thrashers before they got bought and moved to Winnipeg.

Back when the Thrashers were in Atlanta I was a project manager for an IT company. I had access to the company box seats. Very few people in my company had an interest in hockey and I would get 4 center ice, box tickets and a parking pass for almost every home game. I would take my son and a couple of his friends the first 3 seasons they were in Atlanta.

That right there had a lot to do with why they were available for sale and moving to Winnipeg!

I'll watch what comes on on, but my team is out, so I am good with that. I am not a fan of Nashville's play style. You can see why they were the most penalized team in the NHL this past season.

The Flames lost money for years before they got sold. We picked up a minor league team after they left and it was heavily supported so they allowed Atlanta to get an expansion team, the Thrashers. They actually did fairly well while they were here but they only made playoff status near the end when the owners were looking to unload them. Atlanta has enough support for a minor league team but Atlanta is a fickle sports market.

The Knights play 6 miles from where I live.  I make 2 or 3 games a year. I used to be a Braves fan and would go to 10 to 15 games a year when they were downtown. They did zero maintenance to the stadium and it was trashed in 15 years.  Now that they have moved to Cobb county where it is an hour and a half to get there and parking sucks. The Braves AAA minor league team play 2 miles from where I live and I would hit a dozen or so games a season - they changed the name last year from the Gwinnett Brave to the Snappers or something like that because a dumb assed lawyer bought Gwinnett Braves tickets and tried to go to the Cobb co Braves and put up a big stink. I am through with the Braves for a while. I have been to 1 Atlanta Hawks game in 30 years - I swear me and my son were the only two light skinned people there. I am not their demographic.  Football; when Michael Vick gave the finger to Atlanta and said "F**k You Atlanta!" I was 20 feet away on front row end zone season seats. Management did nothing and I haven't watched football since. The Falcons were kind enough to refund the remaining game tickets when I sent the tickets back with a letter why. Yes, Atlanta is a tough market for sports.

We do have a good turn out at Le Petite leMons and the Atlanta Dragway...

I would have thought Atlanta would be a great town for sports.  I also wasn't sure how well received hockey was down in the deep south like that.  For that alone I like seeing hockey in Nashville, Dallas, Arizona, Tampa Bay etc.

Here we are a strong sports town, but then there isn't a comparably sized city anywhere close to compete, so we get them.  We have NHL, NFL, NBA, MLB, plus soccer, lacrosse, etc...

Atlanta is a very diverse metro area. We have a large Black, Asian, Latino, Jewish, Greek, and Angelo-Saxon communities. Atlanta supports a winning team and quickly shuns a losing team. The Thrashers were just out of playoff status the entire time they were here except for 1 year. The Braves ruled in the 90's. The Falcon's have had a few good runs. The Hawks were better when Dikembe was playing.  The TBS Wrasling was big for a while because of Uncle Ted Turner. We have a pro soccer team but I can't tel you their name...

I do enjoy seeing Subban being on the loosing side. And Stasny on the winning side.

Subban got beat up last night. He took a shot to the family jewels that put him on the bench for a while.
