The Flames lost money for years before they got sold. We picked up a minor league team after they left and it was heavily supported so they allowed Atlanta to get an expansion team, the Thrashers. They actually did fairly well while they were here but they only made playoff status near the end when the owners were looking to unload them. Atlanta has enough support for a minor league team but Atlanta is a fickle sports market.

The Knights play 6 miles from where I live.  I make 2 or 3 games a year. I used to be a Braves fan and would go to 10 to 15 games a year when they were downtown. They did zero maintenance to the stadium and it was trashed in 15 years.  Now that they have moved to Cobb county where it is an hour and a half to get there and parking sucks. The Braves AAA minor league team play 2 miles from where I live and I would hit a dozen or so games a season - they changed the name last year from the Gwinnett Brave to the Snappers or something like that because a dumb assed lawyer bought Gwinnett Braves tickets and tried to go to the Cobb co Braves and put up a big stink. I am through with the Braves for a while. I have been to 1 Atlanta Hawks game in 30 years - I swear me and my son were the only two light skinned people there. I am not their demographic.  Football; when Michael Vick gave the finger to Atlanta and said "F**k You Atlanta!" I was 20 feet away on front row end zone season seats. Management did nothing and I haven't watched football since. The Falcons were kind enough to refund the remaining game tickets when I sent the tickets back with a letter why. Yes, Atlanta is a tough market for sports.

We do have a good turn out at Le Petite leMons and the Atlanta Dragway...
