Been on 3 ranger forums and a dodge forum, all had a different format for TOTM.FRF had others nominating members trucks, limited entries and a pre vote for nominees.RF had self nominations and voting regardless of entries. The ram forum I was on had specific categories, for example "lifted" or "most modified" or "lowered" or "stock" you get the picture.
So far at the level we are at looks like the FRF format fits best, when we have thousands of members the ram format will fit in I just loved it because the "theme" would instantly exclude or include certain styles.
I have my own ideas but wanted to get some thoughts regardless of how wild on "if you were in charge of truck of the month, how would you run it"
Open..........

Just an outsider's thoughts - maybe a TOTM for best truck and a MOTM (member of the month) for the  most effort put into helping out others on the forum?

That should give Jim a few headaches unless he delegates it ( ducking out of the way fast!) :hi

i kinda like the nominate somebody's truck & have a vote after a set number of nominations come in. whoever gets the most votes wins for that month (or whatever set period of time you choose).

that should keep one person from nominating their own truck every month & keep things fresh.

this one from subaru forum been going on since 2008 still going
JANUARY: "CREATIVITY"

What do we want to see for this month? Anything. Be creative. Do you enjoy getting technical in photoshop or lightroom?... or just your favorite phone app? Do you like that new filter where it looks like your car is moving?...or how you can remove all the color from the shot, except for the world rally blue of your fozz? Maybe you want to make your car world rally blue even?...or let me guess, the sun wasnt really nice and warm and sending rays cross your hood that morning? (we wont tell). Maybe you just really like techniques like light painting?
Just have fun taking shots, making them your own...then sharing with us all.

Same rules as always, except for ONE UPDATE!!
NEW: Previous winners can re-submit in the same calendar year, but will not be included in that month's voting poll. So you can not only continue to have fun sharing your work, but also prep for the grand finale in December. All posted/shared photos from winners, throughout the year, will be eligible for the year end event.
Additionally,
-Photos must be in hosted format and embedded in your post
-The photos must at least contain YOUR Forester and not someone else's.
-No more than 4 photos per entrant
-The voting poll will begin when we get 10 entries or the morning of January 22nd, whichever happens first.
Feel free to include a brief description of any photos to help set the scene.

For the rest of 2018:
February: "Passion" (Valentine's Day spin off. pics of your forester while you're enjoying something else you're passionate about.)
March: "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles" (at a car show, the abandoned old train station, air strip, etc, etc.)
April: "Pet Pictures" (got a pet? do they go on adventures with you? or just sit in the back? co-pilot?)
May: "Keeping A Sense of Humor" (something funny. weird sign in the background? what's that person doing?)
June: "Action" (offroad, dyno, road race, 1/4 mile, etc stuff.)
July: "Holiday Greetings" (Christmas in July spin off. what's your favorite holiday?...themed shot.)
August: "Vacation Time" (where'd you and the foz wander off to this year?)
September: "Weather" (rain, sleet, snow, heat, cloudy, fog, etc etc. you and your foz out in the elements.)
October: "Splash of Color" (colorful.)
November: "Your Best Black and White Photography" (opposite of colorful.)

The grand finale?
December: "Reflection"
..more info on that to come later!

Not to intervene in good contextual banter but admittedly, the themed runs DO add a bit more to the efforts of getting away from the typical or "basic" vehicle pics..

My Ranger could only qualify for BOTM (Beater of the month). I have dings, pealing clearcoat, a grill that has been pieced back together, and a lower bumper valance that is starting to split.

I don't really have any input to offer on this subject. It's just not something that interests me.

Great ideas guys, except for Michael this time LOL he usually has great ideas.

OK I'm going to do a fusion of both ideas, theme and nominating from others. Starts february 1 and I already know the theme :)

Glad to hear you're incorporating the “theme” aspect. I've always enjoyed the themed photo contests.

I'm thinking "ROTM" instead of TOTM that is so general and EVERYONE is using it. After all every truck featured on ours will be a ranger of some sorts right?
