The death toll in the USA has just reached 15.

This means it has surpassed Shark attacks, Vending machines and 410's beloved Moose. About the same as Airplanes. Still WAY under the number killed by Dogs, Cows, Deer.

Bees, wasps and hornets accounted for 58 deaths last year. Forget the dust mask, get a bee mask you will win in the USA.

The Flu/Pneumonia killed over 2000 people in 2017... in Ohio alone.

Yet none of the local department stores can keep dust masks and hand sanitizer in stock. One place in Manhattan NY is selling single bottles of hand sanitizer for $79.00

Reminds me of the fuel crisis in 1974 that lead to the Mustang 2, Lincoln Versailles, Cadillac Cimarron, fuel rationing and gas going over a dollar a gallon causing every fuel vendor to have to buy new pumps since nobody ever thought it would have to go that high.

I cant figure out why but theres been a run on toilet paper in my area... well I guess if you plan on being home for a long time. I thought for a second that they might be using it for DIY masks, but only for a second. Lol

Traffics been great.

Same here - people more concerned about wiping their bum if they have to quarantine for 14 days!

Our health service has advised that face masks are ill advised outside the clinical area, they can actually harbour and breed bugs...

Hand sanitiser is LESS effective than soap and water.

The world is driven by media hype.

Flu is by far the worst killer of the aged and infirm - covid 19 hasn't come close yet.
I shall be off to Italy next Saturday, I shall enjoy the sun, the warmth, the food, the company and the horses - I am not letting a teeny weeny virus ruin what is left of my life!

Herein lies the entire point of my initial post. And proof from your post it is the world and not just our united states.

The most dangerous thing in our world is watching mainstream TV and listening to mainstream radio. I'm amazed we didn't learn our lesson from Orson Wells.

The aftermath of the "war of the worlds" was ALSO over stated and spun so it would not happen again. There was some hysteria but not nearly as much as the media wanted the world to know.

the Walmart in North Idaho is like the closest walmart to all of the North whacked out prepper movement psycho freaks
Now don't get me wrong, I live in the woods, off the grid, but I am already "prepped" and have all the supplies we need LOL
The walmart has not had toilet paper for like 2 weeks now? The run on TP and bleach is because these back woods red necks plan to stay up in the hills for months polishing their boom sticks while the Corona virus kills off the masses. Not gonna happen! How quickly we forget the H1N1, Sars, and Ebola just to name a few
I had a cold and fever for like 3 days.....pretty sure that was the Corona dealio....I kicked its ass with tons of vitamin C, plenty of zinc, hot tea, and two ibuprofen.
My mom brought this cold/virus whatever it was back with her two weeks ago from Hollywood, she took my son to Disneyland for a week....she came home sick, we all got it, its over now!
While a person maybe smart, people in hoards are CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!

My grandpa told me at a young age, "Don't believe anything you see on TV" and I ran with it

I went to Sams Club yesterday and picked up a bulk package of toilet paper. Just because that is what we do when we run low on paper since I have to go to sams anyway for vending machine stuff. Had nothing to do with any virus. But Sams club here in central ohio seems to have plenty of paper.

Didn't look for hand sanitizer. I must be missing something and I'm glad.

I think the anti-virus companies write most of the viruses.

On the supply and demand thing remember back right before the 2016 election trying to get 22lr rounds?

I had a fever last week - lasted three or four days - bit of sneezing, slight temperature, all back to normal now - was it a cold, a touch of flu or the dreaded bug?

My guess is that many people will get it and not even know!

Starbucks employee in downtown Seattle tests + for Coronavirus!

Holy crap....that should help it spread, as if it needed help.
So this thread is fun, but I am sure this virus can be pretty dang dangerous....you guys all take care out there.........keep your hands clean and don't touch your face!

Doctor friend of my mothers has warned us this virus can be very deadly.....she said the way it is engineered (yes engineered) is scary and this is going to get alot worse......
For all the funnin we do, it can still hurt families and that sucks!

We have a mutation if you have not heard. -S was the original, the mutation is -L.

This could either be good or bad, some of the mutations react differently to meds we already have that can be altered after proven effective to help with the original. Fascinating but still not a "pandemic".

I had allergies for the first time 2 years ago. I thought I had contracted a weird cold that would bounce back and forth to my chest and head. It seemed like it would start to go away and them come back but never quite  bloom into a full on cold. I felt like I was fighting off a cold for 2 months.

When I had the same experience the next year it donned on me that it might be allergies. I took flonase and it was gone in a week. I felt pretty stupid for the previous year. In my defense I'm nearly 50 and have never had allergies.

Its pollen season in seattle and I think a lot of people will confuse allergies with colds especially with all the fear associated with covid19. I just hope we dont see any Zombies....

I do believe there is a Virus... as stated above it is killing people, but I have toilet paper and Costco here has full shelves of just about everything and is passing out Hand sanitizing wipes as you go in the door... !
I'm not discounting it, I don't know enough about to say it is nothing, but I agree with the rest on the hype too much !  The medical systems are doing all they can to keep what it is under control.  We will know where we all stand when the time is right or if we get infected and things happen as they happen; I do not believe other than washing your hand more than usual, that there is nothing we can do about it.

Sanitizers... over use can cause problems too... wash your hands before a meal, I tell my grandkids that and they want to know why, (on tis 6 and one is 3) !
It's one of those, do as I say !

The wife is starting to talk about more than usual, as the death count goes up she gets more concerned.

Anyone think that MAYBE it is a Virus released by a faction to see just how far a REALLY bad virus could spread in the US... wipe us out !?!

No - I think it is just a case of an animal virus jumping species - it started way back in October in a market in China where they were selling and handling wild animals. It seems that most viral infections start in the far east, there must be a connection.

It also seems that the vast majority of deaths occur in people with compromised immune systems, either from age or underlying heath issues - these people are much more likely to die from the annual flu virus.

The World Health Organization estimates that the flu kills 290,000 to 650,000 people per year!

Funny how nobody 18 and younger has contracted thee disease. It seems to target 60+ or those with impaired immunity. The next most targeted groups are those with diabetes, high cholesterol, or high blood pressure. This is a bio-engineered disease designed to reduce problem population.

See that is the problem with reading text compared to hearing it.  I can't hear the irony in your voice when you say this.
