No - I think it is just a case of an animal virus jumping species - it started way back in October in a market in China where they were selling and handling wild animals. It seems that most viral infections start in the far east, there must be a connection.

It also seems that the vast majority of deaths occur in people with compromised immune systems, either from age or underlying heath issues - these people are much more likely to die from the annual flu virus.

The World Health Organization estimates that the flu kills 290,000 to 650,000 people per year!
