I've had sirius, now SiriusXM, since 2006. I bought their lifetime subscription at just $499. It's paid for itself over and over. I love the service, mostly for Stern, but the music is great as well.

I like the "hair nation" channel, and the ones surrounding it. I always can find something I was listening to when I was a teenager, kinda takes me back. If you like seriously heavy stuff "liquid metal" is appealing.

Tom petty channel
beatles channel
Elvis (not for me but it is popular)

Just about everything. Not good if you have kids on the rock channels because they do drop the F bomb frequently.

We had the 6 month trial when we bought my wife's 2017 CRV in 2016 (it's a good story) and decided to keep it.

If you travel at all you never lose reception for longer than a minute or so in tunnels or mountains and can listen to the same station all across the US.

I give it a thumbs up though I wouldn't pay for a second radio for the Ranger. You need a subscription for each radio ID.

You can have one radio and multiple docks for it. I can listen to it in my civic and my wrangler. I have to buy the mount for the ranger still

You don't move the vehicle radio, only the sirius radio. It's a portable unit that you add on to your factory radio. You can see the dock in my wrangler, i have the same in my civic and getting one for the ranger

The Dock, does it connect to the Auto Radio via a cable ?

You buy this on the XM Site ?

Anything special I should look for ?
Thx

They sell them as kits. Everything you need, radio, dock, antenna...etc. It runs off an aux input and gets power from your cigarette lighter. Easy to install, I hid all the wires behind the dash. In my civic I just put the antenna up on my dashboard. It picks up the signal through glass. They sell mounting plates exclusive to your vehicle that help with the install.

Best buy has the radio's. Here's just one example of the car kit. You will still need some kind of bracket, like that one from summit, to mount the dock to it.

I would be hard pressed to pay $11 a month to listen to a radio.  Okay, okay... I'm cheap!

Thx shano63, for the link, it is the same one in most places... price too, I look for companies that give Military Discounts to buy from.
Best Buy didn't when I was there looking around.

mhoward, I'm cheap too but here in SoCal there isn't too much too listen too, a lot of Spanish Speaking Stations, that's ok but I don't speak Spanish, and a lot of Country Stations, that too is ok, because I like Country Music, but sometimes I want to just listen, 50 and 60 stuff, and the 70's sometimes and then sit back and listen to some Blues or Jazz !
One of the carpenters I hired, for a project I didn't want to do, had the Home Package, with Portable Speakers, he listened all day while doing the project, I liked the sound so I have been thinking on getting it ever since (3 years).
I figured to try it for a year and see how it works out; I've spent a hundred dollars for less before so it won't be the first time I've wasted money.

My problem is that my vehicle radio will have it built in, with a free trial too, wonder if there is a discount on the unit or I can make them both work together, will have to talk to XM and see.  Maybe they have a Military Discount... !  LoL !

They SHOULD have a military discount. Heck ALL businesses should have something to show their appreciation to the military for protecting their freedom to HAVE a business in the first place!  Just sayin'...

I got an MP-3 player & put all my songs on it & put a radio interface in my truck so I can play the MP-3 player through the speakers in my truck. Our spare vehicle a 08 Escape has a aux port on the radio & I can play my MP-3 player in that truck, & now my wife wants the hook up that is my Ranger for her 99 Explorer Sport. So then no matter which truck I/we use we could play what we want just by using our MP-3 player & I do not have to pay each month for the radio, just the initial cost. I installed the aux port in the cubbie under the heater/a/c controls so it looks factory, & I will do the same in the Explorer.

What interface did you use?  Does it have sound quality comparable to the CD player?  And of course, how much was it and where did you buy it?  Okay, that should be enough questions for a while... :-)

Michael, here you go. Here is the interface I used.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002U5XPBE/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_4?smid=A3E6B1BQWBUOYQ&psc=1

Got it from Amazon, $25.00. Very easy to hook up, & yes very good sound comparable to the CD player.
Here is the MP-3 player I got.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XVVYGIC/ref=ox_sc_quick_look_saved_title_3?smid=A1TVDUW3K6CWWG&psc=1
When I leave my truck at work I just unhook the MP-3 player & put it in the glove box for safe keeping. That way using the stock radio & with the aux port built in & the MP-3 player in the glove box there is no reason for anyone to try to steal anything because it all looks stock. The only drawback to using the interface it diminishes the radio quality a little which I do not care because I do not listen to the radio any more, it is either the MP-3 player or my cd's.

Cool! Thanks for the links, Mike!  I don't listen to radio much either; sometimes I will catch a Bob & Tom or Johnboy & Billy morning show on the way to work.  Otherwise, it is CDs.

I think & this is just my opinion but it is easier to carry the MP-3 player then some cd's. You just have to make sure depending how much you use it to recharge it. I recharge my MP-3 player every 2 weeks.

I have an iPod (one of the older ones).  I can plug it in to my USB charger that is mounted in my radio bezel and the 3.5mm into the jack in the dash.

It sounds like you already have a plan for it. Post up some pics when you get it installed.
