I spent 2 hours taking the 1911 back apart only to put it together like I did the first time. I took a brake where I got a shower and had three fingers of a single malt Scotch. I tore it down and reassembled it in 15 minutes where it will take a magazine. Both safety's work as designed when dry fired.

As an added bonus I found my Swiss Army knife that I misplaced about a month ago. It was my dad's EDC knife from the early 70's till he passed in 2008.  The most used tool when he had it was the corkscrew. I started carrying it after he passed when I was stateside but would leave it behind when I traveled outside the US. I would pick up a knife in whatever country I was in to comply with local laws. They all made it back home. I had about a dozen auto knives at one point. There are a few countries that limit the max blade size to 7.5cm or a little less than 3 inches and they may allow auto open knives.  During a Southern Watch mission in Kuwait I was issued a Benchmade limited Military edition Auto knife - Thank You to the Ft. Bragg SF I was supporting. It is a military only knife. The Swiss Army knife or my Benchmade Auto will be in my pocket anytime I have pants/shorts with pockets.

I'm pretty sure the shower didn't help; but that single malt?  Yeah, that stuff works WONDERS!

No it didn't. Same problem. The lower series 80 duckbill is rotating. I will attempt it again tonight.

Except for the 2 series 80 parts, every part in a 1911 can only be installed one way.

No YouTube videos to show you?  Exploded breakdown chart?  Surely there is some helpful info out there to get this back together.

Yes , but the series 80 part can spin to where it is not working and can block the magazine from loading,

I will look at it Thursday. I am current sleep deprived.

@Eddie: Pelosi sees that video and she will push legislation to ban it as an assault rifle!

They even make an AK style with a folding stock, perfect for MHoward Jr...

LOL  MHoward Jr. started out with BB and AirSoft.  Now that he has the real deal, I doubt he will be going back! :-)

Everything I've been looking at is either out of stock, back ordered, or obscenely over priced. Then theres the price and availability of ammo. Im really looking forward to gun shows coming back. In the mean time, I'll settle with a carton of BBs. I can shoot that without needing to take out a small loan for ammo or go to the range....

I get that, for sure.  AW and I have both been so busy, haven't really had time to go shoot anyway.  We have a fair stock of ammo, but hesitate to burn it up right now.

The best things about BB guns and PCP Rifles is you can shoot them in your yards and no registration.
My PCP Rifle has a 50 to 75 yard kill zone, I can hit further out but not sure what the kill factor would be.
Cost of Pellets aren't as expensive as .223/5.56 rounds (500 Pellets/$7) and these PCP Rifle are so much fun to Plink with, even the Wife likes them.
The Wife is right-handed but Left Eye Dominant so she has to shoot this PCP and my AR's left handed, she is not a happy shootist.

I finally bit the bullet, and built my own AR. I'm mostly a pistol guy, and I had one AR in addition to a .22 rifle and a shotgun. But i found some lowers for a decent price and decided to build with one of them.

It's decidedly not fancy or expensive. but just to have done it. I haven't shot it yet, maybe next weekend before I can get to the range.

I "found" some lowers too, I'll be picking them up next weekend if he gets them done. To not have a serial # they can't be 100% finished and you have to know a machine shop  :)

So I be in the market for 2 barrels, and I have relatives in Mesa that could ship. PM if you know anyone lol.

I've been thinking about moving this thread to a member only section due to the recent BS. I bet google has already scanned all the pics on here.

Oh you can count on that.

My son's boss spent some large amount of money on some tooling for the shop, mostly so in his off time he can gun smith!  He also makes his won whiskey, was pretty good, needed to age some more...

The PCP Pellet Rifle has been working out better than expected.
Got five chunky Squirrels today, one this AM and four earlier tonight, before dark.
Clean hit, one pellet kills.
Hoping to get a few dozen more ands to prom elf the digging in the fields.
Getting out there around six tomorrow AM, seems to be the time for them to run around.

@Scrambler: You *DO* know that fried squirrel with mashed potatoes, gravy and biscuits is a meal fit for a king, right? :-)

Not in my book !
Got three more this AM... hoping for another two or three tonight !

I remember years back, we had an older Italian Lady that would always take all the squirrels we could get.   She owned a small Neighborhood Store and would give us free items when we would come in.
My father, also Italian, said he would eat them too but I never brought them home... just in case he made a stew.

I just want them gone !

Decided to get a cheap walmart "safe" to put my ammo into. Keeps it out of the hands of my kids, and in a place where I can actually see what I have and keep it inventoried. Was $180 at wally world.

it fits in the closet with my gun safe:

Great idea with a separate Ammo Safe.
Sounds like a great price too !

I was storing it all in the closet in my bedroom. I've never been super comfortable with that. Feels good to have it be a bit more secure. I have young kids, they know to respect it, but they are now bringing over friends, and I like it being locked away from kids who may not know how to respect guns and ammo.

Had a father and son camping weekend. Took advantage of one of the last cool days for a while and did some shooting as well.
