One of the things I've always enjoyed about finding a ground floor forum is what seemed to be the closer nit of the group. You weren't exactly just one individual say out of 43,518 others, so things are a little more personable. Although introductions were a bit light as far as who we all are, which by all means I respect everyone's right to privacy. Through other posts and threads I've gotten a  better understanding of what it is people do.

So, I was going to ask the question of, "What do you do for a living?" until the thoughts that generally run through my head circulate around a more out of the box sense of freedom than most see or understand and I decided to ask the more formal question of...

"What do you do for a job or employment?"

I happen to have several smaller income streams but what is considered employment aspects is a part time gig as property management to a close friend of many years who owns a lot of properties used as Airbnb's. He has properties in Florida, Oregon, Nevada, and the most properties in California (Southern). With exception to the 18 or so homes & 32 cabins in Big Bear all of the homes are 5400sq ft and up to 9100 sq ft. and sleep at minimum 22 people. All of the Vegas, Nevada homes are the ones I administer / manage only at this time due to the fact my second part time employment is more of another hobby turned business; Overlanding.

This is centralized around many of my passions focused on trail camping, kayaking, hiking, and overall survival or bush skills as some call them which does involve hunting and fishing... This opens up to a LOT more but I'm trying to keep things simple for now.

So what do you do?

During the day I manage a small 6 man machine shop at a diesel performance facility in central Ohio. I program CNC machines using Mastercam software.

I own and stock 3 vending machines there (snack and pop) also.

I also own a small webhosting company (like Godaddy only MUCH smaller) and manage 11 server nodes. Though 2 of them are at my house right now. F-R is hosted on one of them.

That was my hobby turned business, playing with servers.

Seems like you can't make a living doing just one thing any more unless you like ramen noodles and off brand peanut butter.

I did own a Specialty Retail store - Gizmos Games.
No Video Games. Mostly TCGs. Magic, Pokemon, Etc...

Before that I worked for a Software Company that did County Government Software doing Tech Support and Networking Support.

I closed the store at the end of July to help take care of family health issues. Now I mostly troll the internet all day...

For 24 years I worked in the automotive business starting right after tech school where I trained as a auto tech. I always worked in the service dept having held positions as new car prep, line tech, dispatcher, service manager, & most of the time as a service writer. Since then I have been assist store manager for a national chain, & currently in receiving for a home improvement big box store.

Well, at the ripe old age of 69, I don't do a lot!

I spend the mornings taking 2 dogs for a walk, and the rest of the day doing jobs around the house & garden. The evenings I cook and spend a few hours helping (or hindering) Jim with the forums and hosting (especially email issues) .

Every couple of months I travel out to Italy (home is in the UK) to go to see and ride my horse.

Before having so little to do, I ran my own company building MG sports car engines & gearboxes as well as restoration and servicing work. I still build and ship the occasional engine but most of my old stock is sold off now.

If you are really nosey then I have a blog at chrisnscully.tumblr.com

hi i'm rob! I earn income by writing custom software. kinda neat cause i get to design, write, test, troubleshoot, answer questions... helps that the customers are all pretty nice too lol

other than that, i have a little landscaping business. pretty much only makes a little bit of spending money, but at one time, it was a decent little chunk of my income.

I'm getting my family farm set up for a few head of cattle and some fruit trees. might not make any retirement income from it, but at least i can eat part of the year hahaha!

I had a 68 Austin Healy "Sprite" I had picked up and had for a few months and ended up losing in a divorce..

In hindsight prolly a good thing as it needed a lot of work and would have likely become a full resto job.

My name is actually Andy,(if you see me in person you'll know why I am RangerNed). I work at a Plating/Coating shop in Wyandotte, MI (sorry, no chrome). I have been there for a bit. We have actually plated quite a few of the fasteners on these Rangers over the years. So, if I take a fastener or two off of my truck and I have the time, I will take it in and re-plate it (if possible) or bump it up to the most current upgraded finish.

Yep, that is where I work. Who was your friend and when did he work here? I've been here 29 years!

Hello, I'm Michael. I started my work life pretty much as an auto mechanic, but found selling parts for them was a little bit cleaner. Worked in parts ending up as Parts Manager for a John Deere dealer. Then it happened. I got thrown face-first into the world of computers when the dealership elected me to implement the new IBM in-house system -- that was 1985. It was fun and exciting... at first. 30+ years later, uh... not so much. At one point I owned my own consulting company, but really didn't like working for such an asshole *grin*, so I accepted a position with a former employer and so I am currently the Technology Manager for a plastics injection molding company. We make lots of automotive parts, some that you will find on your Rangers. I'm also a musician, and in my younger years played with a variety of area bands as lead/rhythm guitar, bass player and sometimes drummer... even recorded some songs with one band (45 rpm singles woo hoo!). I have a 19 year old son who is also also a Ranger owner (1999 XLT 4x4) and a card carrying gun nut (he says the proper word is "enthusiast"). LOL Anyway, there is the cold, naked, ugly truth about me! :)

Wait, now i can't remember if you're his Dad, or EaOutlaw is....

I have told him about this place and encouraged him to join.  He hasn't said he wouldn't, but as you have noticed, his mind is on guns at the moment.  He used to be that way about his truck, but that has now taken a back seat to the gun thing.

And yes, I am his dad... EaOutlaw is just a friend on the forums.  LOL

EDIT:  If YOU invite him over and entice him with a firearms thread, he may come over and join! :)

Haha, yeah i started the thread, and honestly, he sounds like me, gets a bee in his bonnet over something and gets *really* into it for a long while, then the focus shifts, whilst still remaining interested in the previous one.

It's not good, specifically in that you end up with too many hobbies and not the time you want to invest in them :(

Yes, I saw the new thread and I showed him (ArcticWolf) the post of your goodies (that was underhanded of me, I know). Then, this morning, he asked me for the URL and he got registered. Of course, he headed straight for the firearms thread! LMAO Oh well, whatever it takes to get him over here, right?
