Every time I mow or go somewhere I see these vehicles and wish I knew more about vehicles and had a lot more money to spend. :(

Take your money and invest it into things that create OTHER income streams.. If you think plugging away at a 30-45hr a week job is gonna get you much farther than paying just the bills you create.. (maybe, most spend more than they make whether consciously or unconsciously) otherwise chances of being able to do what you want may be slim. Few companies pay the way they used to, most employment efforts even self employment is all performance based which means if you dont produce you dont move forward or up in anything. Add to that ridiculous inflation costs due to the Fed Reserve every time the dollar does pick up value, they knock it right back down, AND to boot, the dollar isnt worth the paper its written on.

Reality check - todays inflationary measures puts yours and my $100 at just under $16.74 worth of buying power compared to 1971 where the same $100 would nearly have gotten you almost 5 times as much buying power ($595). Any google/app inflation calculator will show you that.

Which in turn means you have to work 5 times harder than someone who started 35-40 years before you.

Put the Jeep on craigslist, someone will give you 1500 for it the way it is if you have a title.

On James's gloom and doom statement (which he is absolutely correct) I can make it worse LOL.

True stat. 46% of americans cannot come up with $400 spare dollars for an emergency. Sure they could skip rent or mortgage or get a cash advance on a visa but they do not have $400 they can spend without needing it for something else.

I stayed there for about 10 years after a divorce.

I would prefer a F-100 LWB but would take a SWB. The toughest truck I have owned was a '72 Ranger SWB and I have owned a few 3/4 ton trucks. But then again rebuilding that Scrambler intrigues me.

What am I thinking? I have two project vehicles, one stalled 4 years ago and the other on a 30 year time capsule that has 8 years before I put it back together.

That scrambler may be worth well over $1500 it looks to be all original and a SCRAMBLER = hard to find and sought after

Yeah the scrambler is entirely original, has both hard and soft doors. The f350 is single cab short bed dually with a flatbed. Unfortunately they're not for sale, they've been in the family since they're creation and have a lot of sentimental value to the family, which makes it even more sad lol

Damn that's crazy. I had a talk similar to this with my mom but we didn't get nearly as in depth

My uncle was a stock broker and did very well at it. The best advice he gave me was when I got out of the Navy. He handed me 20 bucks and stated that it was the start of my savings plan for retirement. "A dollar a day for 40 years and you will retire with a million dollars." He explained compounding interest at a good rate of return, etc. will get to a million bucks in short order (40 years is only half a lifetime). That is a long range alternate income stream for future use. "Let your money work for you", my dad always said. They weren't smart then, but they are brilliant now!

Future dreams: stuff in a 350 and make it a drag car for no reason lol. That's literally just a "what if" dream and most likely will never come into fruition

A buddy of mine has a next door neighbor that has a '78 F250 XLT Supercab with a 400M, Camper package, and a granny gear 4 speed. He had a stroke 2 years ago and no longer drives. I have had a standing offer but he does not want to sell it.

I had a '78 F-100 XLT 4x4 with the 400M and granny gear transmission. It was a strong truck after a cam change, 4 barrel intake, 750CFM Holly, and headers got it up to about 300 HP. It almost doubled the HP as the stock configuration was about 170HP.

I looked up the vin on this truck, it's a 1968 f250 2wd, v8 360. My grandfather was in the process of putting a new engine in it before he got in real bad shape and passed years ago, so now it's just a new engine going to hell. He stored it right, he put a piece of plastic on top of the carb so nothing goes down it, I don't think there's any fluids in it...i sadly know little about engines. Same with the Scrambler; it's the straight 6 with the 4speed manual. 4x4. It's got a lot of wiring problems, needs a carb, fuel lines/fuel tank replaced, brakes done, exhaust to get it back on the road. Simple stuff to a true mechanic, but high level stuff to me. Eventually when I have the know-how to start on it, my grandmother wants to drive it one last time before she passes so that's my goal. She's had people work on it in the past, but all they did was let it sit for a while, take her money, and say "it's unfixable" one guy even stole stuff out of the bed! Sorry for the long post, just got kinda sentimental lol

The engine should be fine, they are well lubticated inside and can sit for years as long as no water gets inside

People like the mechanics who worked on the Jeep for your Grandma is why I do everything myself!! SCREW THAT!

If you want to learn you have to start somewhere.....

A '68 F250 with a FE 360 engine? The 360 and 390 FE engines were ideal for a truck. Lots of low end torque. That truck needs to be rescued.

all of this. Every month, I put $$ into my roth IRA's, I have "passive" income through my youtube channel, and I am working hard to pay off my house ASAP, my goal is 10 years (so I have 9 years left to get it paid off). Then I can start buying houses to rent, and have income that way. Working 40-50 hours a week, while it might provide a decent income, It won't ever make you "rich"
