The more I see this truck the less I like the interior. It's to car like. Hopefully in the next few years when the redesign comes out it has more of a truck look

I see what they did, they went with popular instead of mavens. It is what is popular.

When it comes to off roading, automation will never take place of a brain behind the steering wheel. Taking a wait and see attitude.

My problem with this NEW Ranger, and I haven't been shy about saying so, "IT IS TOO CAR LIKE OVERALL" !

And now I have someone else saying the interior is to car like... what is Ford thinking, oh ya, profits, what sells !

I understand but I am not happy with what Ford came out with, to me if they wanted a big seller they should have come out with a more-like-truck style, and another option for the engine... oh ya they aren't putting the 5.0L Coyote in them ! LoL !

Its too bad for me, I waited to see what Ford was going to do with the Ranger, hoping in the back of my mind it would be a truck but my hope were dashed on the rock, I don't hold hope for the Bronco either.

Not sure where I am going with my next purchase but I'm am pretty sure Ford won't be where I'm at; unless I hit the lottery, then maybe a Race RED F-150 Platinum !

Scrambler, the problem is "most" people do not like a truck like ride any more. They want a truck but they want it to ride like a luxury car.

Trucks are no longer 'cowboy cadillacs' for just the top end ones anymore. Most any new vehicle is expected to have the same creature comforts.

I wouldn't mind all that, would like 4 doors, would miss a useful bed, but I am not taking on any more payments...

Mike69/OB,

I'm with ya, people are asking too much from a Truck, if they want luxury they should buy a Car or an SUV !

It's too bad some people that need a truck can't afford one because of all the extras added on because someone else was crying they wanted more comfortable seat.

Trucks used to be 1/2 or less than a car, not it is jus tteh opposite; 40 to 60 K $ for an F-150, what is wrong with this world !

If I can't find a used F-150 that fits my payment plan, then I am off of Ford like fire on wood when water hits... too bad I have been a Ford man all my life and now I can't or I do not want the high payments, just to justify Ford Profit Margins.

My first house, the material to build it, three bedrooms, two baths, big Kitchen with open floor plan to living room and dinner room, cost $30K, I and friends supplied the labor.

Things will come crashing down soon !

It's not really a car interior.  Its a brand interior.  Ford has a styling language, its to create a brand identity.  It's always been this way.
That interior is pretty similar to my superduty, and I wouldn't say its a car interior at all.
I'll add a few pictures to kind of explain what I mean.  Mid 80s ford truck and LTD, mid 90s truck and mustang.

Ford was never going to put a v8 with that much power in a truck that small.  A) the market it is in doesn't call for it.  the power isn't needed.  the fuel economy wouldn't hit the goals of buyers.  Its just pointless.  Another option for the engine?  What option?  A less powerful V6?  the small V6 ecoboost?  That would be a   packaging nightmare with the turbos.  The diesel?  Maybe, but as ford has just barely touched the diesel market stateside, give them time, it'll come.  I don't know why anyone acts surprised the ranger is what it is, this variant has existed for years.  And how are the older rangers more truck like?  They have ifs, they have automatic t-cases, they have no power.  what is it about the old ranger that is so much better and more "truck like"

My 1995 F150 was 26k new.  In todays dollars that is 43,000.  That's for a truck without leather, or nav, or heated seats.  It was an XLT with a manual t-case, a 5.8, and auto and all the power options available.  But it was by no means cheap, and no means half the price of car of the time.
The cheapest F-150 you get in 1995 was about 16k, or low 30s in todays money.  The cheapest F-150 you can get now is about 28k.  So while you can far exceed the high end of the early trucks, you can still buy a comparable bottom of the barrel work truck.  The higher end trucks now days far exceed any older trucks ability to do anything, power, mileage, comfort, towing, braking, and in reality, they cost a comparable amount dollar for dollar.

Ford is doing what any business does.  appealing to the majority.  I've had base model trucks.  I had an XL F-250 diesel in 1996 that was vinyl and and a manual.  Crank windows, everything.  I now have a diesel that stickered at 74k, and has almost every option ford offers.  I will take the new truck 8 days out of 7 over the old one.

For that kind of money I will stick with my 2000 Ranger.
