New to the forums, but I do drive a 2000 Ranger XLT (Supercab) with the 4.0 in it.
Creeping up on 129k miles, also recently installed a third LED brake/cargo light.
I don't have the expertise or the time to do ANY engine swaps like the 5.0.
I've got a minor project in mind so far, and I'm considering putting tail lights from a newer Ranger on my 2000. Not sure which ones, but definitely not doing older model tail lights like  from the 93 or 95.
If I was to do that tail light conversion, would they be able to fit on mine or not? I'm considering the '01 or '10 ranger tail lights.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Zach, welcome to F-R!

2000 was the first year the brake light and running light were a dual filament and the same light, I believe this carried on through 2011. Will they fit? I have never tried it but SEVERAL people here have and I'm sure you will get an answer shortly.

Welcome Zach, sounds like you've got a pretty good example of a low mileage 4.0, any pictures?

I just fitted newer taillights to mine, they changed them after your model, then again in 2006.

Here is my 2002 lights, and the newer '06 lights, which were the same from the year '06 through to production end in 2011.

All lights will fit with no modding in our years. (not the really old stuff)

Hello Zach and welcome to the forum. As others have said, fitting the newer style tails is a bolt-on affair. I went the opposite way and installed 1999 tails on my 2003 EDGE (but that takes extra wiring).
