I'm learning how to navigate on the web browser forums. I'm a member on a GMC forum and using the tapatalk app. I hope to see this forum on the app eventually.

Little about myself, names Mike and I live in northern ky. I bought a 2006 ford ranger to drive back and fourth to work, 150 miles roundtrip. It's a 2wd single cab standard shift with the 3.0l v6. I bought the truck with 130k miles on it, it needed tires, brakes, bulbs changed and a good tune up. Since I've owned it I put Yokohama geolander all terrains and black American racing Baja 15x8s with chrome hardware (center cap, lugs, and valve stems). I put the avs in channel rain guards on, new plugs and wires, new brakes, front wheel bearings and seals, rotors, and I had to buy a small center console.
Next on the truck will be window tint, stereo and speakers for sure. I miss my Bluetooth like what I have in my GMC. The rear end needs new shocks, it's sagging on the passenger side a little, I'll probably just put new ones on the front while I'm at it. Any recommendations would be nice. I was looking at the Rancho adjustable shocks but their a little pricy. I'm also looking at eventually getting new headlights, and swapping the seats out for something a little more comfortable.
Right now I'm in the process of buffing and waxing the truck. With my work schedule I'm having to do it a body panel at a time. It'll take me a while to get done.

Mike, welcome to F-R from southern NJ. With the 3.0 V-6 do you know if the cam synchronizer & sensor was ever replaced?.

Im not sure about the synchronizer and sensor. I'l have to ask the previous owner. The truck has 139k miles on it. If I had to guess I would say no, but I can find out for sure. Is that a pretty common issue on these 3.0s?

What's the issue with it? The truck seems to be running just fine right now except for the crappy gas mileage.
My luck if I was to go ahead and change it something else would mess up, or the new synchronizer would give me fits.

Well it starts squeaking, sounds like a belt. Then it snaps usually during a high rpm situation, leaves the engine without flowing oil. One of our members has a really cute 99 in great shape that needs a motor because of it.

The good part is they aren't really that expensive AND they are not that hard to replace if you do some wrenching.

I don' mind to do some wrenching. I'l look it up and see what it's going to cost. I'd  rather be safe than sorry in that case. Like I mentioned before I drive this thing a bit away from the house so reliability is somewhat important. I don't normally get the truck in high rpm situations. It's a turd when it comes to passing, and I usually shift gears between 2-2500 rpm.

Thanks buddy, glad to be here. Interested in seeing and learning what others have done with their trucks.

You will find that there is everything here from bone stock to wild modifications. V8 swaps, drift truck with a flatbed, pro-stock race truck and everything in between. You're gonna love this place! :)

She hates that I'm always piddling with a vehicle.

We have a member who is in the middle of the 4BT swap.  Last I saw, his project was kind of on hold... don't remember the reason now.

For the drift truck, go HERE to check it out!

The 4BT hasn't posted his build thread here yet (it's on another forum), but you can get a bit of info HERE.

What does the flame beside my post mean?
And how does the reputation work? Is that used instead of a like button?

The flame means it is a popular thread (15 posts / 300 views or something like that). You can click on the reputation of a member if he answers a question you posted that helped you solve a problem or basically anything that you thought was useful, helpful, etc. Clicking the members reputation gives them 10 points, I think... 25 if a mod does it and 50 if an admin clicks it. Jim, correct me here if I am all wet on this!
