This is just an initial post. I've had my 2003.5 Mazdaspeed protege for almost 6 months now, Its been a fun car, and a ton of work. Its #2750/2750, hence the last, and the protoge was the first car to carry the "mazdaspeed" title.

Some details on it.

The turbo charging system put together by Callaway cars - The people who do the corvettes.

The exhaust and suspension were done by racing beat

The body kit was made by Roush.

Its one of a kind. the wheels are no longer green, that was just plastidip, and it came off. I need better pictures of it. I'm not really good at photographing, but I do run a youtube channel with a lot of video over there.

Originally they were gun metal grey, but that has mostly worn off it a lot of places, and where it has it is black underneath. I need to get the wheels refinished, but That's a big expense. I don't want to go after market, since these wheels are quite rare, and I would hate to give that up.

Would it be possible to get the matching paint color from a body shop or shop supplier?

Probably, But I'm not sure if I want to go original, chrome, or some crazy color. They do need the curb rash cleaned up though... the PO was a teenager, and I swear he it every curb he came within 50 feet of.

Sadly, that is the case when teens are handed a nice car without having and skin in the game... they use and abuse it.

So true, as a parent, I won't buy my kids a car. They have to buy their own cars.

I picked up a set of these http://amzn.to/2CaAF2g to start replacing the vacuum hoses with, a lot of them are pretty old and a few I've found cracked, so just going to start replacing them as I go along. along with some control arms going in this weekend. Bushings are shot, and need to be replaced.

My father gave me my first car, but I took care of it. But then, that was in the early 1970s (I'm 62). My son insisted he wanted to buy his first car and he did... a sweet 1999 Ranger XLT Extended cab 4X4. He knows how to spend money, but he takes good care of his stuff.

Here's another update. I should really put some music to the sped up parts.

I've been slowly working on it, as time and money permits. its sitting in the garage costing me nothing (but taking up a lot of room, which annoys the wife).

Here is the last picture I took. most of that is not bolted down just sitting in place for the picture.

Close friend of mine has one, I think its a 2003 maybe. Charcoal grey in color. Its like showroom condition with light mods and has less than 16k on the clock.. STILL SMELLS NEW!

Fun car's. Basically as close to a slightly-watered down Cosworth Escort MK IV you can get on US soil in my opinion

it would have to be a 2003, since that's the only year they made them.
If he wants to sell it.... Let me know... They are getting rarer all the time, but don't have much value.
