I miss my ol' '99 F150 mirrors {black, kinda oblong/pear-shaped.....} and was wondering if there's any info out there about putting them on my '98 XLT.
I like to use those round stick-on mirrors to see what's happening close to the truck, but as I'm sure y'all w/my gen truck will agree.....our mirrors are a tad small for that.
Oh....and I'm running manual mirrors so it's basically just bolt up or will I need to drill......anyone know what kinda hassle am I looking at in the swap?

Just look at my profile pic and you can see my current mirrors.

A much easier swap especially with manual mirrors would be to install the 06 & up mirrors. I added them to my 2000 Ranger & they were a big upgrade on the mirrors that were on there from the factory.

There are several write-ups on the 06+ mirror upgrade. All you will need are basic hand tools and a Dremel with cutoff wheel.

I have the tools and if I need something I can go buy it.
I looked on here for info and found nada.
I'd appreciate it if you could post a link on the swap.

You are still talking Ranger Mirrors, correct ?
The 06 Mirrors are almost a bolt on, some of the 06 Mounting points need to be cut off... that's it !

Check out the Ranger-Forums.com Site and see the How-To On 06 Mirror.

Added:  I do not think the F150 Mirrors will fit... period !

I don't go to Ranger-Forums much since we got started here.
As for the F150 mirrors.....you just tossed down the gauntlet and I love a good challenge! ;)
I guess I'll just have to keep y'all posted. :D

OK on the Challenge... and on anyone else comments !
I too wanted to try the larger F150 Mirrors, my reasons for not even attempting it were fitment and the size, I thought from looking they might be too BIG !

You will be using the '98... ?  What ever you do I should be able to do on my '03.

First thing I would think needs to be done is how much difference is there between the F150 Mounting Plate and the Ranger Mounting.
Then how to cut up the F150's to it the same or near to the Ranger.
After that if someone wants Powered Mirrors, or heated Mirrors that can be addressed.
I know you aren't going there but just thinking out loud and hoping for the best !

Please... if you attempt this, keep me in the loop, I do not have any additional info but am VERY interested in how the outcome will be, in both looks and what it took to mount them.

Hoping for the best, this could start a whole new trend in mirrors for the Rangers.

I'm starting to think large mirrors with the blind spot mirror on the bottom.

Good Luck, good cutting !

It's been a while, any outcome on the F150 Mirror on the Ranger ?

Kevin, here is a link from that "other Ranger site" to do the 06 mirror swap that I used when I did the swap.
http://www.fordrangerforum.com/how-to-submissions/60790-06-mirror-swap.html

If your Ranger has power mirrors like mine you have to use the pigtail off you old power mirrors to extend the wiring to be able to plug into the in door harness, then you need a dremel or a hack saw to cut the plastic stubs flush with the side of the mirror that the studs screw into so it will fit flush with the door. Once you read the how to you will understand what I am talking about.

A bit late, but is this really worth it?
I don't like the stock mirrors on my 98, do the 06 mirrors give a lot more rear visibility?
Seems like a straight forward swap if so.
Time to hit a pull a part place.
Thanks,
Russ

I have read a lot of members, on different sites, that have said they can see better, the mirrors seem larger, but I too am confused in the viewing area.
Looking at trucks, with the '06 Mirrors, I can't see where the extra view come from, but I have not sat behind the wheel to compare.

I have a set of '06 Mirrors and new directional glass to go in them, so I am hooked, I was hoping to start the install soon, maybe even today !
The only reason I will be doing the '06 swap is because first I now have them, next I have found NOTHING to replace the '06 Style of Mirror that has a larger viewing area and doesn't look like a  BFDck sticking out of the side of the truck, i.e. new Dodge's and Ford's Mirrors !

There are a lot of How_To's on the Web... about this Swap, check them out, read a few but they all end up the same.
The best How-To I have read is posted by "Fx4wannabe01" on another one of the many Ranger Sites on the Web, search on "How-To: Install 06+ Mirrors, FX4wannabe01", read it you will like it !
He posted picture of both mirrors on the truck and from the rear, might give you more insight in what they look like and how much more you can see.
I have a copy of his How-To but you will need to send me an E-Mail address to get it.

Good Luck we may have new '06 Mirror on two Rangers really soon.

I was reading out in Data Neverland and found a Towing Mirror for the '09-11 Ranger.
They look like the newer F150 Mirrors to me but I have no comparison.

http://www.madhornets.com/extendable-towing-mirrors-for-ford-ranger-09-11-pair-black/

The Door Mounting looks like a 2019 + but this pics more for size.
Oh ya... the price...  are you sitting down, $390.
One picture I couldn't copy shows the size of the Mirrors on the 2011 Ranger, a little BIG in my opinion.

Are the 2009-2011 Mirrors different than the 2008 back Mirrors for the Ranger.
If these fit a 2009 shouldn't they fit the 2003...  ?
Interest none the less !

I purchases a set of power trailer mirrors for the 99 F250 for $100 last year. Same mirror minus the turn indicator. Not factory quality but sufficient for the work truck. I've had them on for at least a year now without any complaints.

If you really want these, buy a cheap one and see how it looks. I'm betting the angle will be off where it mounts at the door.

Let me know if you want pics

No thanks, I am going to do the '06 MirrorSwap, powered, heated, directionals, maybe a Puddle Light but that is pushing it.
Puddle lights will probably be in the door if I get that far.

I would have thought the F250 Mirror Mounting would be too big and at the least not the same holes, did you actually mount them to the a Ranger ?  If so, maybe a couple of pictures would be good.

Thanks for the offer,  Ltr

These aren't too big but as EM has stated, they look like the mirror would be a little higher than t needs to be and the rear view would be a little off.

The size of these seems large too but on a 2019 the look big !

I couldn't find a picture mounted to a 2011 back Ranger, would have liked to see that !

Mirror measures - 11.8" high x 7.87 wide, not counting the supports/extensions.

This is what I would like but positioning and mirror overall size needs to be adjusted a little but the main thing is the mounting, the arms need to be shorter or not there at all.

From the looks of the mount, this mirror looks like it is made for the 2019 Ranger but the one about looks right from tehpicture but only will know by ordering, who's going to be the Test Guy !

To be honest, I lose cars and pedestrians behind the mirrors and the pillars. Really impairs your sight everywhere but beside and behind. When I stop at a 4way I really have to make sure it's clear before I go. No California stops!! Lol.

I think if you were to place these against a ranger door they wouldnt be perpendicular to the hood. They would be slightly elevated up...

I'm not sure, doing a comparison of the mounting locations, you can see that the lower support Arm on the Tow Mirror is approximately at the bottom of door window, using that as a reference, the Blind Spot Mirror could be at a good level.   Then looking at the top portion of the Tow Mirrors should be placed in a decent location.   So I'm thinking the mirror itself and based on the fact that it was designed for the 2011 Ranger, it would/could be a good size for someone like me that wanted a larger mirror... BUT... my problem is the length of the support arm and the distances away from the vehicle when not in Tow Mode !

AND the price of $390, way to much for my taste.
