Found the Belt Weather Strips for my '03, Brand New FORD, been looking for some but was never able to locate them.

Belt Weather-Strip, Part Number: 6L5Z-1021452-AA, $34.17

Belt Weather-Strip, Part Number: 6L5Z-1021453-AA, $34.25

$80.00 shipped, not the cheapest but better than $100.00 from eBay and Amazon.

The belt weather strips are soft aluminum and actually quite delicate. Make sure that they pack them inside an appropriately strong shipping box or tube.

On two occasions, I have received one of these bent and unusable, damaged during shipping
inside the factory packaging. The long, slender box was never intended to go through the mail as an individual item with a shipping label slapped on it.

Bit the bullet and bought the two pieces, another project to add to the list.
My OEM units which are still on the truck aren't too bad but they will be, they will be... and also, these parts aren't going to be around too much longer from Ford !

Parts were $68+change, and shipping was $8+change, and there was some sort of handling charge, $2... WTF, everyone needs their little bit more.

All Web Stores wanted $95+, so I was ahead of the game w/Gaudin Ford !
This is the company that also had the best price on the Ford three-wire Harness for adapting the 5.0 into just about any thing. They were also willing to talk about the price. I didn't buy because I was moving to SoCal and heard from friends, there that it was a bear to change motors and get an Inspection Sticker.

Memo to self: Need to double check the Smog Thing vs Inspection Sticker and get this Ranger 5.0'd !

My son and I were cruising car lots a week or so ago, and saw a Ranger where the owner had removed the rubberized coating, leaving the aluminum exposed. It actually looked pretty good.

My V8 project is like that. I might just polish it.

Yeah, like that! You've seen pics of my truck... I like chrome and polished aluminum (old school / old guy). I also thought about wrapping mine in CF vinyl.

Yeah, i've seen a few guides for stripping the rubber plasti-dip-like coating, then just regular metal polishing the strip.

If i had any chrome on the truck, i'd likely do this, but it's all paint matched so wouldn't look so good.

My passenger strip is fine, and will stay pretty good so long as i clean and UV treat it, the drivers side is messed up, but can't quite justify the $40 ish for the replacement right now.

Is the rubber coating on the back too AND does it take up space... will it affect the fitment of the part.

I actually ended up splashing on this, it's a PITA to remove is all i can say about that :(

The rubber coating is very thin, i won't affect the fit, though i would be aware of the part that sits along the outside top of the door/paintwork, i could imagine it might rub.

I agree, rubbing on the paint is not a good thing, that is why I purchased a new set instead of playing games, I don't like games.I was thinking maybe some sort of coating to go on top of the rubberized stuff to reduce the wear on the new pieces... wondering what, if anything, would work.
My Ranger has 15 years on her, runs well, (knock on wood), I have only small signs of wear on the original Arm Rest portion of these parts, but I do not know what the rest of it looks like.  When I take the door apart to add electric windows I will think about replacing them then.
Lets see some pictures of what your old ones look like and what the new/reworked one look like AND of course the actual removal and install too.

I don't have any pics of the swap out, to protect the rubber coating on the new strip, use a plastic/rubber UV treatment - i use 303 Protectant, i use that on all my plastic surfaces, inside and out, it will stop the rubber failing in the sun.
