I have all of the Off Road Lighting I need but I want to convert them to LEDs, either a bulb or module, that will put out an equivalent light.
KC doesn't have anything in the works, and are not in a rush to make something; they do have an LED Conversion for the Daylighters but not for the Slimlines, go figure !

Any ideas ?   Post up !  I will to read them all, one just might work out !
Thanks / Ltr

- 100W H3 Halogen

Starter choices

Something tells me the reason why there is no options from KC is due to the shallow nature of the fixture exceeding necessary depth and or possibly heat issues due to cavity volume. Unknown at this time.

Some 130 Watt version too.... !

Not sure but the higher powered LED H3 Bulbs are hard to find !

KC has retrofit kits for DayLighters up to 150 watts... why not one for the Slimline ?   maybe too slim for the LED and heat sink package.

Do you know where to get high wattage H3 LEDs ?

That would be amazing, if they retained the same light pattern !

I would really y like to keep the ROUND look in front of the Ranger since I already have the Housings !

Thks

You wouldn't hit high wattage per s© - there are lots of H3 fitment LED's - it's a headlight type fitting, all the LED's have a massively higher output than any filament bulb, go for it :) (Amazon)

Everything I have read about the LED Bulb Conversions hasn't been good.  Total Lummens are high but the Reflectors are not set up for LEDs and I always try to stick to high 5000K or 6000K for a nice WHITE light.

Thats why I wanted to get a LED  Conversion made for the Sliim Lights...  no go for KCthough.

I need to just get a pair of LED Bulbs and try them out.

Thanks for the input.

The issue is always the accuracy to which the LED's are positioned inside the "bulb" - that has to be accurate or the reflectors will be off in their angle.

You're not looking for dipped lights though, so it doesn't really matter as much - additionally, most if not all LED bulbs will be a nice white light.

As far as position of the bulbs, the H-3's are preset with a mounting flange that is notched for alignment, I am hoping when I do locate what I am looking for the alignment will be the last thing to worry about !

This is a little late but when buying LED Bulbs, watch the Temperature rating... i.e. 5000K, 6000K !
At about 5500K the light starts to go Blue, 4800 to 5500K (bright white) will render the whitest light.
A lot of LED Bulbs come in at around the 4000K to 4800K Temperature rating (warm white) and although white, they are a little more yellow than the 5500K Bulbs.

So it is a question of what you think is white, read any LED Color Chart and think bright white !

Thanks for the comments !

It's not the position of the bracket or base, that's not rocket science, the positioning of the LED on the stalk is the important part.

Thanks, I understand but that is up to the manufacturer, I think !

I was hoping for a Plug'n Play setup but I have not had any luck finding what I was looking for.
I need to do a lot more checking things out !

Thanks for the info.

Yes, it is up to the manufacturer, it's all in their care of those specs.
