Typical patterns we use is either one in each wheel well, we suggest somewhere slightly off axis and slightly back for the benefit of seeing downward if needed in case of using the lights for repair or visual inspection uses. One in each rear wheel well. Then one in front of the bed and one towards the rear of the bed in single file.
OR..
Similarly two in the front wheel wells for even better lighting up front for repair or visual inspection uses. One in each rear wheel well again. Then one in front of the bed and one towards the rear of the bed in single file or just a single light front or aft of the bed configuration of your choice.
