I currently have manual 06 mirrors on my 99 and I'm going to be swapping over to power mirrors.

On Rockauto, I noticed they specify that the mirrors aren't heated, which of course implies that there's a version which *does* have heat. Not that I need heated mirrors, but why not right?

Of course the Ranger (to my knowledge) never had heated mirrors. The explorer, does, however.

I know the 01 and lower style expo mirrors will bolt onto a Ranger with no fuss, but because I'm difficult I must have 06 mirrors. I just like the profile more, that and the bigger mirror surface is nice too.

So, on a hunch, I looked at 2006 explorer mirrors. Well, how about that?

They look pretty much the same, and they can come with heated glass plus a puddle light.

Has anyone tried this? I  thought about comparing part numbers, but even comparing non heated expo mirrors to non heated ranger mirrors is fruitless, because they're still different. Expo has puddle lights (which changes the number) and the Ranger doesn't.

That looks like exactly what I want.

Despite it's title though, that appears to be for an 07-11 Expedition/Navigator.

I'm fairly certain those won't work, even if one were to swap the triangle mount.

I'm thinking a trip to the U-Pull is in order. You can pull a mirror from one of the dozen or so 2006 Expos there and try it on one of the Rangers that are already missing the mirror. Easy peasy. If all works out in the fitment department, make your purchase and bring them home. :)

I have never bought an aftermarket mirror that didn't shake while driving. I'm looking for a few junk yard mirrors I need 2 left and one right all powered.

If you're buying a new mirror spend the extra and get kool vu they are the only good factory replacement. All the less expensive ones use mylar

My manual 06 mirrors were TYC brand. I thought they were just fine.

But yeah, JY  trip is in order. Volvos have a tiny timer relay inside them somewhere that will come in handy.

I figured out how to get the glass out, but unfortunately could not deduce how to separate the main housing from the mount.

If Expo mirrors don't fit the doors, it appears that I will have to try and retrofit those features into Ranger housings. I hear that puddle light mirrors use smaller motors to accommodate the light. We'll see what happens and I'll report back my  findings.

I hope to get out there on Thursday.

Well, as suspected, the 06 mirrors don't fit.

Countour wise, they seem to match up. The problem is, they changed the location of the plug pass through and the mounting studs.

No dice.

That said, the glass is the same. Appears to be anyway. It won't drop into my manual mirrors, but that's to be expected. So, I can transplant that into a set of power ranger 06 mirrors. Which I'll have to purchase anyway.

I took some photos of how they fit up (or don't, rather) to a Ranger door. 98-00 ranger pictured. If  those of you with some fab skills are inclined to make these fit, well here's some info that may help you out. Also, a couple photos are of the mirrors still on the explorer to give a good view of the contour.

On the Ranger photos, keep in mind that the mirror is held so that it appears to be in the correct mounting location, if  going only by the contours.

I also have photos of how to take the door panel off, if desired. Pic dump incoming.

Some 2010 a d 2011 rangers have heated mirrors. It's a rare option but I have seen them come through at work. I just did a 2004 ranger that had the key pad for remote entry a ove the left door handle I've seen 3 like this. The 04 i just did at work my dads old 04 and a 2003 I seen at a dealership

Well, unfortunately heated ones aren't listed for those on rockauto. I'll check some other places, though.

Adam, if that 2004 you just processed is still around, check that keypad. I guarantee you that it is a stick-on keypad. Ford offered an aftermarket option that you program just like a regular key fob. It is attached to the door with 3M automotive tape.

Don't confuse these with the keypad you will find on a multitude of Ford vehicles. :)

I didn't read all of the postings but when I purchased my '06 Powered Mirrors I wanted directionals and heat, I lived in New England at the time.
The easiest way is to buy aftermarket Mirror Replacement Glass, with Heat and Directionals.

"Muth" has the Mirror Replacement, but they are pricey... (https://shop.muthco.com/ranger-signal-mirror-2006-2011), but since you can't find what you want the price start to look better.

At the time I purchased my mirrors, it was the least expensive way to get both the Directionals and Heat.

p.s. OEM Mirrors are so far ahead of the aftermarket industry that buying the Muth Products gave me the quality and the features I wanted.

Eddie, after reading Scramblers post I went to the web site & checked them out espicially since I upgraded to the 06 power mirrors on my 2000. Here is a link for the mirror glass, https://shop.muthco.com/ranger-signal-mirror-2006-2011 If you want to use the heated function you will need this install kit also, https://shop.muthco.com/heated-mirrors-on-demand

Wow! Have to mortgage the farm to buy a set of those! I have the Roush Thunderbolt signal mirrors and they cost me $55 with shipping. Of course, they aren't heated (which I would love to have), but $200 is just way too much for a couple of pieces of mirror glass.

Thanks mike69, it was hard to decipher. I googled muthco as well but looked up explorer instead not knowing there was an option for rangers.

Incase anyone else is interested mike69 provided the links for 06-11 ranger L/R signal mirrors and the heated mirror on demand option. You can choose between red or amber signal also. Total for both plus UPS ground is $300.

@arcticwolf1911 and scrambler82... thank you for sharing this mod

@410custom... on there way. Lol

I would like to get a larger mirror than the '06 Ranger style.

What would be great would be the F-150 Mirrors mounted to a Ranger Door Mount.

OK so I'm dreaming but it is what I would like to have.

Anyone ever see larger mirrors on a Ranger ?

I said the parts were pricey... yes $200 for the glass but remember they have directionals and heat.
If you can't ge the heat to work with your switches then there is a controller that can be purchased.
The separate Controller for the Heaters is another $70 but try and buy OEM Mirrors with directionals and heat and see what the cost is.
The biggest problem is nothing is inexpensive these days, I got mine a while back, so they may have been a little less but at the time I wanted them and that was that.
It's all in what you want !
