 Anyone familiar with these projector headlights? I'm not a fan of "halos" but from all the ones I have seen these "look" the best. Just curious about quality of the light output. These look to be about $150 so that may answer my question lol.



I'm most likely just going to build my own, one thing I'm worried about is getting the projector properly aimed and level in the housing so that's why I have been searching for other options that don't cost $800-$900

 Anything built for the light you are putting in it is better than throwing a huge LED in a stock housing :)

Those do look unusually good, I'm not a halo guy either but those look quality.

Oh I am well aware of NOT putting any type of "HID kit" in a halogen housing, too much glare for oncoming vehicles, and it annoys the hell out of me when I'm the "oncoming" vehicle :x. I'm even pretty skeptical about using those cree LED bulbs as well, so I'm most likely just gonna build a set retrofits and maybe seek out advise from Lightwerks on proper alignment and getting them mounted level. I see now they have laser cut brackets, but nothing for Rangers :squint:.

 I've been looking at aftermarket housings, and LED headlights as well. After posting a thread or 2 on the subject I think I became more confused. Lol. So far it seems that some of the aftermarket housings require modifications to install the housing. Fitment can be an issue as well because some come with the side market and headlight as one piece. Then there are modifications to the wiring which is probably minor and not too complicated. But what has kept me from doing this mod myself is how LEDs work. LEDs do not spread like a traditional headlight bulb. So you'll need to get a projector style bulb. For me, I decided to keep the original housing and use sylvania bulbs. Almost everywhere I read, sylvania makes the best and brightest bulb for regular headlights. I may use LEDs for my fog, side markers, and taillights but I'm not sold on using them for headlights yet. Reason being my intent was to improve my headlights. So far I've only seen that the aftermarket stuff changes the trucks appearance but doesnt improve your night visibility.

 That red ranger I bought and sold during summer had aftermarket lenses and LED's, I think the housings were meant for regular bulbs. My night visibility was way enhanced but I'm sure oncoming traffic had a different opinion.

It was to me "embarrassingly bright" I wouldn't turn them on in the driveway if I was point outward until I got on the road in fear of waking my aging neighbors by enhancing their living room through the curtains.

But boy could you see stuff in front of you on the road!

Gray area for sure. I get Jeeps at night behind me when I'm driving my wife's CRV that light up my face via rear view mirror. It doesn't bother me, I don't slam on the brakes or honk my horn I just think "silly kids" and carry on.

I don't think it is dangerous just annoying somewhat.

 If someone gets an aftermarket housing or LED retro fit that improves night visibility I'm definatly interested. I dont want to go through all the trial and error. Aftermarket housings are too expensive. I'd be so pissed if I went through the time of installing at a cost of $200 plus for the spyder or specD and have them not fit right, or do the LED retro fit and electrical splicing and either cook my wiring or melt the housing or have everything go right except not be any better. I've been looking for someone with firsthand knowledge and I havent had any luck yet. 


My stock housings look like the original owner tailgated down gravel roads daily. They are pretty pitted. The paint shop also started to show me how he could buff them up before I could stop him. Now they are yellow because he took the hard outer surface off. I definatly need to get new ones.

 You are lucky. In your year you can buy just the headlight housing. SpecD gives you lots of choices too. They offer HID and LED for your truck.

Mines an 07. For some reason the spyder guys made the headlight and side marker as one piece and require drilling for new alignment screws. They also reduced them from 3 or 4 adjusters to 2. So there can be a bad gap between the side marker and fender. Because of how they mount with only 2 adjusters the lights can shake and wobble while driving. That's annoying for the driver and oncoming traffic. 

Im not familiar with specDs for my year but they are one piece as well.
