My question is more like when did things happen.

What was the last year Ford stopped using the 5.0L Windsor motor ?

When did the Coyote 5.0L come in the picture ?

California is a PITA about engine changes, they let them happen, legally... if you meet their rules.
The first rule is the new engine needs to be the year of or newer than your vehicle  and can't be from one of the heavy duty type trucks, and from what I am told from that rule holds all the water back.
Emissions is the next biggy... that can be countered but the year of the engine can't.

Anyone with the info, please let me know.

Thanks

This is from memory and without a search.

The coyote 5.0L was very similar to the 4.6 IMO that was being produced in the early 90's and appeared in bigger ford cars such as crown vics and merc grand marquis.

The bore and stroke ratio on both these modular motors is very close to 1:1, both having a 90 degree V angle.

The heads are freakin huge to accommodate the cam, that's why they don't fit well in out beloved rangers.

So they took a 4.6 gave it a slightly bigger bore and stroke so it was approx. 5.0 liters and called it a coyote. The exact year I wouldn't be able to tell ya without a search.

What was the last year Ford stopped using the 5.0L Windsor motor ?
I believe that was 2002 in the Australian Falcon and Fairlane. The last US vehicle was 2001 Explorer.

If I am wrong someone will correct me...
