This is from memory and without a search.

The coyote 5.0L was very similar to the 4.6 IMO that was being produced in the early 90's and appeared in bigger ford cars such as crown vics and merc grand marquis.

The bore and stroke ratio on both these modular motors is very close to 1:1, both having a 90 degree V angle.

The heads are freakin huge to accommodate the cam, that's why they don't fit well in out beloved rangers.

So they took a 4.6 gave it a slightly bigger bore and stroke so it was approx. 5.0 liters and called it a coyote. The exact year I wouldn't be able to tell ya without a search.
