My CEL came on again, giving me a PO 457 code. It's done this before, only this time ,the little engine light came on also. Before it was just the loose gas cap light.
A few months ago i replaced the gas cap,and it worked for awhile.
I also noticed the nozzle hole had 2 sliding things, that pushed open, for the nozzle, were gone.Anyway i think it's the fuel filler neck, thats the problem.Fuel filler neck supply in Washington, has them for $45 somthing, plus shipping.I'll have to do more research.
What did i accidently push to make, these letters go on a angle???

see ya,old retired guy:cheers:frd

You clicked the slanted "I" button or Ctrl-I.  Italics.

Keep us posted - also, is there an issue with fuel filling on Rangers? something with the filler neck? Last time i filled up they had an issue with it clicking off.

I spent 3 months chasing down the loose gas cap code. I spent about $300 on parts that didn't need changing. It ended up being a pin hole in the fill hoses.

I ended up taking the bed off to get to the hose and gasket for the sending unit.

When I had to replace the filler neck in my 2000 Ranger I purchased it from Filler Neck Supply. Since I removed the bed of the truck to replace the filler neck I also replaced the rubber hose from the neck to the tank. IIRC if the metal filler neck, or the rubber hose have a hole in them it will act like the gas cap is loose not holding the proper pressure on the fuel system causing the CEL to trip.

About 1/2 hour later,both,gas cap,and little engine lights,magically
dissapeared.YAYYY!
But i'm sure they will return,as they have done before.
