(Mods: I can't edit the thread title or description?)

Long post ahead:

So yeah funny how these things go.
I had been looking for a "sheetmetal-donor" for the '08 or maybe a replacement. Anyway I had been scouring all the ads for a couple weeks after the crash.
With moving and christmas etc... I kinda stopped looking.
Of course as soon as I stop looking I come acrose this one allmost by chance.
That was Sunday night.
Drive down there Monday morning and lo and behold it's an actual real level 2 with only 110k miles :o (They are RARE around here)
The guy didn't seem to know what he was sitting on, price was real low.
So snatched it up, got it registered and had to leave it there till yesterday when I drove it all the way down to Montr©al to be with family for Christmas

So it's an auto, no rust on frame, some stonechips and tiny bit of rust on body, cracked windshield, HOWLING unevenly worn MT's, interior really crummy but not worn. Seats have been changed for xlt bench in better condition than the '08.

Gearchange from 1st to second is a bit rough and autobox is a bit rough in general.
Motor strangely doesn't seem as strong at 110k than the one at 185k in the '08.
Needs work on front suspension as always but I had allready bought balljoints etc... for the '08

So now this opens a lot of possibilities.
Swap the manual into he Level2?
Swap the "level2" bits into the '08?
The '08 already has full skids and bilsteins, so it would be the 31spline axle and body mainly. (No alcoa's or stainless towhooks unfortunately)

I had budgeted and saved up for 4.56 gears and LSD's front and back in the '08 that has 3.73's and this whole truck cost less than that !!

So now I have a rear a Torsen and 4.10s, the switch to 4.56 and adding a front torsen(powertrax) seems like a lot of money for a small(er) difference.

I'm not a purist so I don't mind mixing and matching uaually but... it's a level2!
Otoh like I said it's mainly just the rear axle and body.
But the L2 has half the mileage, but I love my '08,i love the "feel" and it's tighter, but the l2 drives "as is", but... but... First world problems huh :D

I'll do a good tuneup, do a good flush of the auto, BIG interior cleaning and drive it for a while to get a feel for it.
(Oh and get rid of all the "cool" stickers and remove or modify that front bumper)

This will also be a project log thread.
more pics soon.

It was tough for me to let go of my 99 ranger when I bought the 07. It took a month or 2 to get comfortable. I had to do some work on it before I felt it drove as nice even though it was 100k less miles and 8 years newer. Also my 99 was fire engine red and the 07 was vista blue. Seemed a bit ostentatious at first. I had never owned such a sparkly blue vehicle. I got over it and now I love the 07.

It would be cool to have a level II. Resale might be more in the long road depending on condition...

Saw my first level II this year. Felt like looking at the ranger version of a hemi cuda. Lol. It had over 200k and was trashed but it had all the cool stuff.

Merry Christmas
