painted the cap yesterday, today i finished up the stripe along the top of door and front fender, then put the cap back on. took a few pics cause i wont have the winter wheels on much longer, then the '76 hubcaps go away.

I like the overall theme... a '70s Ranger, did the Hub Caps and the Hood Emblem come from a 70s Ranger ?

I always liked my '95, short bed, std cab... when my latest Ranger came along, I just wished my '95 had just a little more room... oh ya, that's my '03 !
The best part of the '03 is the Std Cab is that little extra room, at 6'2 it makes a difference !

Just asking, are you planning on a repaint of the front of the truck ?

The hood emblem from what I could find it looks like it came on the 1961-64 F100 thru F1100, & 65 & 66 F100 thru F600 6cyl trucks.

the hubcaps were off a 76 F150 4x4 "explorer" package. the guy that bought that truck new i worked with years ago, one of the first things he did was take off the stock wheels and put on 15x10 white spokes with 31.1150s. the stock rims/hubcaps were put up in a barn and didn see the light of day until i got them. (i have the rims too, but i doubt i'll ever use them. im not sure if i'll do much more with paint on this. ive considered a single silver stripe the width of the hood badge but that just seems wrong for a "racing stripe" on a truck. i kind of like the way it is now. my thoughts behind the silver on front fender coming to a point was inspired by the starsky & hutch torino. i know its far from that, but that was my thinking with it. id almost get another set of steel wheels so i could run the hubcaps year round. my other rims i have for this truck are stock-style deer-paws and a set of styled steel wheels from a jeep wrangler. i also have a set of 15x8 black "D" window wheels i had on my '93 4x4, but they just dont "fit" the theme of this build. maybe some white spokes? thats about all they had back in the 70s that i can recall seeing (if they didnt just run stock rims) 'glass caps were white then too, thats why i went with white on this one. it was a grey originally. wow- 66 bucks for a hood badge? and probly plastic at that, i paid 15 or 20 i think.

I like the over all paint !

If the Cab of my '95 was a little larger, I would be in it today and with a V-8 !

thinking of adding something else on the front fenders, right above the "R-140" where the "ranger xlt" emblem used to be. its from a mid to late 60's ford, but still very fitting.

Its your truck, put on it what you want !

BUT, I have to ask why ?

The Ford Hood Emblem isn't bad. looks interesting but the Suspension Emblem, not sure !

Good luck with that !

im kind of thinking about a "trailer special" emblem now. not sure that i will, they are kind of expensive. I still havent got a set of white spokes for summer, tried the factory alloys and they just dont look right. these dont look bad, they are from a 01 jeep wrangler. finnally did the hood too, only bad thing is the dark blue i was using from rustoluem has been discontinued. i do like this metallic cobalt blue better but dont really want to repaint the rest of the truck. painted the grille silver too. also on the hood i used the lighter "ford blue" as accents in the factory indentations on either side. (theres a word for those but i cant recall it) thats the same lighter blue as the tailgate letters. the darker blue along side the silver and lighter blue is the factory color, almost looks black instead of dark blue. i thought about doing a design like the explorer package stripes, but theres so many variations so i just did what i thought would look good. sure is a improement at least from how it was.

I enjoy your passion for your truck. Hood looks killer!!! Hope you find the wheels you're looking for. I'd say cant wait to see it finished but like a lot of members trucks we will keep making changes and upgrades so we'll probably never really be done!!!

I'd say bring back the wood paneling.. But some caravan owners may get testy over it.

my air horns quit working the other day, found a corroded connection. didnt like the switch location anyways so put a push-pull switch right on the gearshift, right below the knob. kind of looks like the two-speed axle switch from a older grain truck back in the day (or a 2-ton dump, or maybe even a semi ) not sure I'll keep it there, I do have a slight rattling noise from the internals in the switch since its fastened to the gearshift, even with a peice of heater hose between switch and lever.

still have the cap for winter, even though for the most part I try to keep it out of the salt bath & not drive it during the winter. Got it out today for a winter picture.
