Hi all,
I'm Ed. I have a 2000 Ranger with the 2.5L engine, 5 spd manual and an 8.8" 3L73 Rear out of a 1998 Ranger in place of the factory 7.5" open rear it originally came with.( Not sure when the swap took place)
It's been beat up a bit by previous owners (the most recent one being my Uncle) and since it needs some work I've been joining Forums like this one trying to learn what I can about the lil truck
before I get too far ahead of myself and just start firing the parts cannon at it.
My forum name "RLRanger" is short for the nickname "Right Lane Ranger" I gave the truck the first time I took it on the Interstate with the AC on and tried to pass another vehicle. That didn't go well and I just eased back into the right lane and stayed there, hence the name.
I've only had it for a year and I'm just starting to work on it a bit. I didn't drive much last year or this year until just recently due to health issues so I haven't gotten much done to it yet.
It's starting to run somewhat better with the little work I've done so far but there's still so much more to do.
I have a lot of questions so I'd like to say Thank You in advance for any future assistance I get here regarding this truck.

The forum seems to add a backslash where ever I use an apostrophe or italics. Is that normal?

Thank you Jamman.
I bought this truck off my maternal Uncle last year for $750. I was fixing it up for him gradually when he asked me if I wanted to buy it. I already had it running again and since I couldn't find a decent SUV I decided to buy it, the price was right and I
already had some time and parts into it.
It has some minor issues here and there: Throttle cable held on with zip ties due to stretching or wrong size/ needs brakes/ minor engine issues I'm working out a little at a time/ dents, well, everywhere/Driver seat broken but still usable etc etc.
But it's still not a bad little pickup. I'll admit it, it started to grow on me when I was wrenching on it for my Uncle so even though it wasn't what I was looking for( I wanted an SUV for my tools) I was half decided to take it if he ever offered a good price, which he did.
With all her issues she's still kinda fun to drive.
It's a work in progress and my first pickup even though I'm in my 60s now.

I spent some time in New Jersey as a teenager but I don't remember where, it was too long ago.
