The end/method of install is the same, the shuster plug will likely stop the bayonet fitting though? Again, look at the data, you seem to be basing your reasons on hearsay, once you understand how the pressure is the problem, you will understand why it makes more sense. Besides, it's hard to accidentally choose the wrong gas setting. As for ammo, unless you're doing speciality overloads, there isn't anything on the market for regular 30.06 that will cause the pressure spike problems.
