Not sure if this belongs in interior or exterior, but my rear window leaks a bit when it rains. MY98 B4000 extended cab. Is there an easy way to fix this or is there a place to buy the new seals? are they easy to replace?

Normally not an issue, this is AZ, but we've hit monsoon season and the interior of my truck now is humid... (and I'm afraid of rust/mold, due to the dampness).

are you sure it isn't the 3rd brake light leaking? Much more common and it can certainly look like the window is leaking.

Happened on my regular cab. Seal was cracked.

Is it the rubber set back window or the urethane set? I would certainly check the seal around the 3rd brake light like mentioned previously. easily fixed with some thin foam insulation if the original mini foam gasket is difficult to find. Noticing where the leak seems to be coming from can easily be played out by guiding your garden hose without a sprayer on it under a wiper blade and directed over the top of the roof line on a moderate stream so the water runs back down over the 3rd brake light area first. Note where the water is coming in at.

If its leaking from anywhere but the brake light area (?), the urethane seal of the back window set will need to be R&R with whats called a "long knife"

and some glass cleaner or soapy water. will make quick work. Start at top, work your way down the sides, then the bottom. Be sure to have a 3rd hand to hold it while you work cutting through the urethane bond.  Now for this I would recommend taking it to a glass shop simply because urethane needs to be heated before squeezed by something more than a typical caulk gun but I'd certainly identify and verify where the leak is first unless you plan on moving forward fully to do yourself.

Obviously scraping off old material from window frame and the pinch weld (vehicle side), following old urethane stain after priming the glass and having to lay a 0.75" urethane bead all around the window side, being in the back of the truck bed, place window in its spot carefully, check alignment and press in so the rubber seal sits properly. carefully palm the window in to set. blue tape it in place and let it sit for at least an hr or two before driving around... tape off after 24 hrs.

hope that helps

Sometimes the window comes out easy. My 99 ranger needed a new back window when the slider glass broke. I watched the installer remove the trim from around the back window inside the cab, then the window popped right out. The seal was still intact so he just added a bead of sealer and put the new window in. It took him about 20min start to finish. Never leaked before or after.

I didn't even think to check the center brake light. I will do that this weekend. That should be a pretty easy/quick fix. I just assumed it was the sliding window, since that is where I noticed the water, in the track. But if it's coming from the brake light, it would end up there as well.

Thanks all for the suggestions!
