Kind of sad..

I actually offered to buy it from Tom in hopes to turn it around and preserve it from the debauchery that it became.. Pathetic he just let it rot and let all that information fall to the wayside and die, it was at least worth that to most people.

I doubt I've been missed here but I do pop my head in once in awhile and creep out peeping in the window to see who left the light on last.

Whats New??

I'm just wondering who Tom is.

Love, Jim.

It's actually pretty simple. Most humans except for die hard conversionistics and drag racers have all but abandoned the older Ranger format itself.

Most of us in the US except for people owning or working for large corporations have had to work 50% more to afford the basics let alone toys. Toys where the aftermarket part supply is limited at best.

I can't find crap for my Rangers and when I do, if it is used it is junk and if it is new it is very pricey.

James I recently bought a Jeep JL and the internet is dripping with used, aftermarket and new old stock parts, all at reasonable prices.
I bought a stock Mopar lift kit removed from a High Tide model with less than 500 miles on it, shocks, springs, bump stops, sway link extenders and track bar for $300.
I found a set of Fuel D509 wheels with 35" Venom Terra hunter tires, about 1000 miles on them for $1600.
I found a 3/16 steel welded front bumper (body armor brand) for $100 bucks.
I found a 3/16 steel rear bumper forgot the brand for like $150.
was able to find new D rings for cheap, bought software to hack the ECU for 24.99.

I can't find a set of heads so I can get my sons 3.0 Ranger back on the road, not any I trust anyway.

The forum... I don't own a hosting company any more so I'm victim to being bounced from server to server some of them VERY poor performers compared to the ones I used to build. Clouds are cloudy.
The software has suffered from lack of complete adaptations to recent versions of PHP, I was constantly pressured since I bought the rights to the software to adapt it to "Tappa-Talk" which I have never used and don't care, most people do internetting on little pint sized hand held devices we used to call phones, but now making a "phone call" has become one of the most cumbersome features of these little hand held computers, AND most humans have moved to using Facetard groups where any tech can cut you off instead of smaller more friendly communities where you can speak your mind.

Besides that everything is just peachy!

I've miss ya @underestimated an @JAMMAN. I am updating my build here an will continue until the build is completed. I'm actually updating the thread today.

I have been on FB and I have joined many of the ranger groups. They are quite active but dont have many reliable people to answer the questions asked. Most are young and havent bothered to do any research. The most common questions are... can I fit 35s or 37s on my 3.0L ranger? Or I've decided to do a 5.0L swap where do I start...🤪.

Truth. There are a few that know their crap, Our very own Jody Win, Rick Gusse, Dave McIntosh... I bought a set of proper mounts from Dave for my swap that I never completed.

I don't hang there but I do post occasionally.

Facebook and reddit killed forums. everybody wants everything in one place. I pop in now and then, but unless I'm doing something with my truck I don't have much to say.

"conversionistics" Thats quite the $10 word there.. lol

BTW, future mod for the site.. expand the dialog box we respond into and shrink down the topic review section. Even when I put this forum on my 24" vertical screen. Posting box is still the same size and the topic review section eats up the whole rest of the monitor which I use specifically for tasks of reading and typing because less scrolling especially at 90% sized.. just my $ .02

Speaking of working more, don't I know it. Especially considering I am in the process as part of my job is looking for and working on negotiations on a new(er) building right now for a flagship store here in Nevada for the company.. I've been working harder than an ugly stripper over it too!

The Ranger scene,
as always is up and down. A lot of you guys are all in the snow belt it seems so, I would imagine most of the salvage yard is either full of totaled or clapped out vehicles already. Used parts have their place, in my view, a last resort unless it's a "get me home" situation or as sometimes its been, something unique and rare.. I know some people have low budget tolerances but no one wants my opinion on that problem even if it works. But I rarely pick up anything used, If I do, even though the cost may come in at a fraction of new sometimes, for my taxes and income bracket, I really need the write offs and show something for my money more than the discounted price.. plus I just like having new stuff.

As for heads, especially 3.0L/4.0L (OHV only) I can get those new, with or w/out stainless steel valves, if you needed it, even have P&P work available.

Why are the updates to the site unavailable? Just because of tappatalk? Bruhhh.. I would chuck that out the backdoor. To me all that is is one app collecting every ones information and likely tracking EVERY social page someone is on for the sake of convenience..

Hey - see the little button with four green arrows ( look like dots) - try clicking on that

No need for tapatalk - if you log on here with a smart phone, the site automatically goes into a different layout to work better on the small screen.

In fact, nearly 3/4 of logins are on phones now.

Yup. Sad. The hardest thing to do on a modern day "phone" is to make a call. Might as well text while driving, fishing through the menus to find a contact to call takes longer and is more dangerous.

Or just wait until you get where you are going & call or text when you get there. No phone call is so important that you need to be doing it while driving.

The subject of this thread began as a conversation about the demise of "Ford Ranger Forum.com".  I too, am saddened that it went away because of the wealth of information that died with it.  It wasn't a particularly friendly forum though, but there was a lot of useful info there that I could access during a project.  What is bothering me more though, is what is happening HERE... at Ford-Rangers.com.  The last post on this forum was by yours truly on September 8.  When I do post, it is almost like I am just talking to myself.  All of the truck icons are facing away (showing the rear of the truck).  Did interest in the Ranger die and I didn't get the memo?  Should I sell (or just scrap) my truck and buy a Chevy?

"The forum... I don't own a hosting company any more so I'm victim to being bounced from server to server some of them VERY poor performers compared to the ones I used to build."

That probably explains why most of my stuff doesn't work anymore...

Actually, the forum software is in pretty good shape and most things do work - sadly the people seem to have given up on posting! We still get lots of visitors and the occasional new member but like many fora, the regular posters dwindle to a handful.

I think it is part of the life cycle of fora - they start, grow in membership and posts with questions and answers, then visitors don't need to ask a question because the answer is already dealt with. Finally the operators of the forum get bored/disheartened and the forum closes.

I still run my MG forum - it hasn't had a post in the last 10 years but there are still visitors that trawl through the subject matter (the logs leave a trail). It costs me nothing as it runs on my own server and the domain name is used for other things like email.

@Chris: I'm NOT calling you a liar, but I can't send a PM, I can't update my profile, my avatar custom title has weird characters in it that didn't used to be there, I can't upload a picture to my gallery or use the the blue "+" to toss one into a post, and I quit getting notifications about new posts a while back...

SOMETHING really changed here (at least for me).  I have tried 4 different browsers, 2 different computers at my home, my work PC, and different ISPs.  Since I couldn't send a PM, I texted Jim to let him know there were issues and he said he would look into it.  I just don't know what to think.  If other members are having these issues, that could explain why nobody is posting anymore.  I just hate to see this forum turn into a ghost town...

Michael, I can still make changes to my account. I still drop in once a day to see what is going on. I still have my 00 Ranger but it will probably be scrapped along with the 99 Explorer Sport we have. I am closing in on 67 years old & I am having hip & lower back problems so fixing either of them is probably not an option anymore. If anyone needs any stuff for a Ranger let me know, I will sell stuff before I scrap it.

I don't know the condition of the Expo, but my guess is that it is pretty decent.  I understand on the march of time with age.  I will be turning 69 in a short 4 months.  It is getting harder to work on my truck now, especially since I blew my shoulder out in April 2023.  In spite of that, I am still able to do my own service and repair on our vehicles, but I know eventually I won't.

As for selling parts; I loaded up a bunch of pretty tasty items I had and took them to an event hosted by The Ranger Station.  I only sold two items.  Interest is dwindling, it appears...

Michael, I still do service & repair on our vehicles, but the Ranger needs an engine, & the Explorer needs work also. I might keep the Explorer. BTW in December I will be 67.

I understand... an engine remove/replace is a good bit of work.  I would guess that you are turning your attention to the Mustang.  Finish it while you are still YOUNG enough to enjoy it!
