I posted about a year ago of a project I was going to start. Well after finally getting to the truck. Which is a 95 Ranger Splash steppy regular car 2.3 5 speed. I was going to v8 swap it. But after checking out the 4 banger. It's actually a stroker motor. It was bored and stroked to a 2.8 has a ported head custom ground cam forged steel crank forged rods and pistons. I have a dyno sheet and spec sheet from the original engine builder. It made 285 hp and 240 ft/lbs all around 6500 rpm. The engine was built for a 1/4 midget sprint car. So that new info got me thinking. I decided to scrap the v8 idea and retain the 4 cylinder. Except adding about 10-15 pounds of boost. So the new path is 2.3 5 speed and a turbo. I figured it will be something different and should be a blast to drive. What are guy's thoughts?

Well the 2 or 3 of us that are left due to hosting issues would probably say do what you can!

I sold the crank out of the first 4cyl I pulled (original Gherkin green truck seized cam on head) to a guy that grinds them and strokes them. Forgot his name but I think he was from indiana.

The people I have chatted with that went the 4 cyl route never regretted it. They usually prefer the 2.3's though, a lot of thunderbird swaps from their brief turbo era.

You might want to shrink the pictures to 800X600 or some ridiculous crap to get them to work. I need to find a better host, someone that laughs at clouds and virtual machines and has real servers. Like I did.

The writing is set in stone!!!! After some further thought I have decided to go with a v8 instead of the 4 popper. Although I think a built and boosted 2.3 would be bad ass. I just feel I'd be happy with the truck. So 4 more cylinders are being added.

Plans are to swap in a 302 based v8. Haven't decided on the exact cubic inches yet. A good old sissy slush box automatic. Main reason being I want more of a cruiser. I already added an 8.8 torsen with 3.73 gears and disc brakes. Facebook find for a cool $50.

I just ordered new leaf spring bushings, hangers, shackles, shocks, pads, rotors, calipers, and brake hoses.

Tomorrow after work I will be picking up a 302 and c4. Also ordered cab mounts, engine mounts, and a transmission mount. Hopefully Saturday after I get out of the mine and the wife doesn't have a list I should be able to pull the cab and the old 2.3. Still need to order all the brake parts. Soon as I figure out what I want to go with.

Go to the top of the page & click on where it says menu, then on the drop-down menu click on where it says gallery. When you get to the gallery you can upload pics there. When you make a post & want to add pics in the bar where it says post, just to the left of that is a letter G if you click on that it will bring up the pics you uploaded, then just click on the pic you want in the post & that is it. Any more questions just ask.

I wish you luck, with uploading pictures. It's a gray area these days with the host I'm at now.
