Hey guys.. long time.no see.. hope everybody is good... question!
I'm buying a 2000 ranger 4cly.. to v8 swap.of course..
Is the 4cly bulkhead connector the same as the 3.0 v6 trucks?
Meaning will the explorer v8 harness.plug up to.it like it does in the 3.0 trucks?

Welcome back! The "plug" itself is identical, HOWEVER you will need to extend the wires because the 4 cyl. harness is shorter behind the plug... distance between the plug and the ECU is shorter than the V6 versions.

Personally I didn't finish my 4cyl to V8 swap but I remember the plug being too far away to connect.. engine was from a 97 mountaineer (which I still have on a stand in my garage).

It is a great opportunity to pin it for the engine side depending on what year engine and ECU you are using. I'm sure Mr. Fortune will help you when you get to the wiring stage!

Hmmm! So you didn't have to move any of the wires around?  As in de-pin or add wires to the connector?
If its just to short, that  no big deL..I can go to the yard and snatch another plug and a foot.or so.of wireing.
I try to stay away from the 4 cly trucks because I don't know much about the wireing. I can't own a 4 cly anything...lol
This 2000 I'm thinking on buying has a blown 4 banger, 175k miles on the truck but it has all power options with a key fob!

I have a full electrical system manual for the 2000.

It will all depend on which engine you put in of course how you pin it. Like I said Jamie has done a hand full and I never finished mine so he is going to be essential in your endeavor.

The truck I might buy, based on the 42 pin plug..is a 2000 ranger 4 cly..
99-01 v8 explorer harness, computer and wiring harness going in the ranger..
Was hoping the 4cyl  Rangers were the same as the 3.0 Rangers as far as the 42 pin plug..
Went to the  junkyard and compared the plugs off.of a 99 ranger 4cly and a 2000 v8 explorer.. there were 3 wires I think that were different..
