One of my brothers in law is part owner of a vinyl wrap company. I didn't pay much attention to it because he is the type that does something for a year then stops.

Well it's been 3 or 4 years and it is getting bigger, he has a full time job but is sticking with the wrapping thing too.

Over Christmas he was over with many more than 10 others and was showing me pics of some of the recent projects including my nephew's camaro (which spell check just told me should be macaroon).

Just wondering some opinions, he does some high end cars and they look really good. I have been involved in company logo wraps but never an entire vehicle.

Morning,
I have only seen a wrap done on the Auto TV Shows and it looks like if you want to get it right you need a pro to do it.
It  time consuming to install to get it right... When on TV, the show started with the Wrap Into, then moved to other things coming back  to check on it during the show.
The highlites looked like you needed patients +.
I have heard that they are durable but I wonder just how durable... will it stand up tot eh SoCal sun or the New England Winters ?

Just how fast is the Wrap Market (not the singing one) growing, might take some time to check it out for investment purposes.

He says it has to be between like 75 and 85 before they can put it on. I'm thinking of giving him a hood to do and see how it turns out. They are looking for a bigger building and a different area... where they are is a "rough" part of town and it scares some away from their services. But they have enough repeat business and word of mouth to keep it going as is so I'm mildly impressed.

Being from California, I'm surprised you've not seen how inundated SoCal specifically is with Vinyl Wrap shops. They've pretty much replaced all of the print shops in California and Are all over the place.

Near where i used to live in Temecula, Cali alone there's at least a dozen shops withing 20 mins in all directions from the Temecula Mall there..

Even more ridiculous here in Vegas..

Better the film, the better to work with and then the better the job. Good for about 4-6 years in warmer climates with better films.

Jamman, best thing I could suggest is support all your local shops, sometimes people quit because they lack support. You of all people know small business doesnt run on auto-pilot  ; )

I have a buddy that is the service manager for the local Maserati dealership.  They are wrapping a quarter of the cars they are selling. Once wrapped they will dive it for 3 to 5 years, remove the wrap and have a pristine paint job for a re-sale.

vinyl wraps are up and coming in every aspect of motorsports
Every rock star has their whips wrapped, so the masses will follow.
It makes sense, I mean it protects the paint for resale, allows customization of your ride. Here in America there is nothing we love more!!
Snowmobiles, atv/utv, even jet skis are getting wraps. Tuner cars it is all the rage, now the 4x4 guys are doing it too in an effort to protect against trail scratches.
This is a booooooming business in urban areas and the need for wraps goes way beyond cars. If you are good at it and can run a shop, the sky is the limit!!!

With the kids doing at home school my wife wants her Ford Flex wrapped like a school bus. I was going to do it till I found out it would cost $3000 for the custom printed wrap.

I plan on wrapping my Ranger a teal/blue color once I get bedsides. It'll be nice to protect my fresh painted front fenders and it will preserve the factory paint.
Wrapping has been very popular. My mother had a purple wrapped 1993 F250 4x4. Loved that truck
