Did this suddenly happen or did it happen after any maintenance? Or is this a fresh build?

We need more details.

Nice you started a thread!

So the wiring between a 2000 Ranger and 1997 Explorer are way off
You cannot just plug in the 42 pin connector and have it run
There are quite a few wires that need to move locations or be modified. We/ You need to get the wiring info for the two trucks in front of you. I have the 2000 Ranger book, I do NOT have 97 Explorer wiring book, I have 96 and 2000 go figure.
The 97 Explorer PCM will work in there we just need to move a few wires around so the computer is happy!
It is good that you have power to the fuel pump. It sounds like there is no spark at the spark plugs?
You should also have 12V+ at the red wire at the MAS, IAC, and injectors with the key in the on position. This indicates that the computer is turning on and sending ACC power out to the engine sensors.
Makes a map of the 2000 Ranger 42 pin connector and a map of the 97 Explorer 42 pin connector.... it will get more clear on what needs to happen

yes its going to be in the wiring! The 5.0 PCM controls the fuel pump relay. The fuel pump relay gets its power from the fuel pump fuse.
The 2000 Explorer PATS does not disable the fuel pump, it disables the injectors. However the 2000 Explorer computer MUST be happy for this truck to run, so you are going to need to do some wiring
Do you have the original chip key that came with the 2000 explorer?
Did whomever did this swap add the pats components to the 97 Ranger?

yes sorry there are three 5.0 threads going right now here and explorerforum! sorry
Do you have pics of how your fuel system is setup? You should post up some basic details of your conversion
What is the history on this thing?

2000 Ranger has returnless fuel system (68 psi)
1997 Explorer has return style fuel system (38 psi)
How was this addressed in the conversion?

I have not tackled a 5.0 swap but what I have picked up from those that have you will need to make the Ranger into the donner vehicle. This means converting the existing wiring harness into the wiring harness of the the donner vehicle to include the fuel rail and PATS.

I have an 04 2wd w. 3.0L Auto that I will drive until the engine or transmission fails. I have been on the the lookout for a 5.0  Explorer/Mountaineer for a future swap. If possible I will also be doing a 2wd to 4wd conversion along with the V8 conversion.

His 97 5.0 PCM does not have pats
2000 Ranger does, but it went away with the old V6 PCM
So we are good there

Some things to check:
1. have you checked fuel rail pressure? Should be 38 psi +/- while cranking. You can also listen to the fuel pump prime with the key and you can hear fuel return to the tank if you listen close enough

2. Also check for battery power when the key is turned at the red power dist wire, it can be found at the MAS, the IAC, the injectors, etc. This is the PCM power distribution to sensors with the key in on or start..... you should have 12V+ there. If so this means the ignition switch is powering up the EEC relay and the PCM is getting power and sending it out to all sensors....
You should hear/feel the PCM relay click on with the key

correct 1997 explorer PCM does not have pats
the 2000 Ranger you converted might have pats if it was a 4.0 truck
BUT the v6 pats went away when you removed the v6 computer

So something is fishy, I have been trying to help but posts are sporadic and no new details!! Help us help you!
