The seats are way too high and too far forward on the bases, so my thought is this. If I cut 3 1/2 inches out of the base, I can then use a 1x2" steel box tube to line up with the holes in the bracket, and the seat, that way I can move the seat back where I want it and down. This is a picture of me in it with in on ~5" of wood block the height seems right, but it needs to be further back. (it was too hard to get into the jeep with it this far forward). Then I'll need to go to town on the tunnel with a mallet to make room for the seat, at least on the driver's side.

Thoughts?

My first 4-wheel experience was in a 89 Jeep Wagoneer. It was lifted on big 35s. I was 13.
I put a dent in the back passenger door. Got it stuck and slid into a tree.
(So bad in fact, the guy removed the doors off of it) It was a trail truck.
He had v8 swapped it. He still has it, and the messed up door.

I love those seats!!

God. I want new seats for my Ranger... I have some pink race harnesses already. Just need the seats and brackets...

That sounds like a fun jeep.
I am doing this for my kids. Used to have a jeep, took them out all the time. I got rid of the jeep, and they have been sad since. So Doing it all over again. (doing it right this time and not piecemealing it together as much.

IF you are willing to spend $$, Corbeau sells brackets and seats for just about any vehicle:
https://corbeau.com/ford-ranger-ext-cab-98-05-seat-brackets/
https://corbeau.com/seats/reclining/

I cheeped out, and am paying for it in my time and labor trying to fit brackets to seats that were not meant to go together,

So, Something a bit different from my build, but wanted to throw it out there, I was given the opportunity to give away a laptop on my main youtube channel, and not a slouch. A Lenovo Legion 5, with a 10th gen core i7, GTX1660TI graphics, and a whole lot more. the rules are pretty simple:

First part done, Got to hot this afternoon, so will pick up this evening to finish up tonight/tomorrow. Took way longer than it should have, because I wanted to retain my factory gas tank skid plate. Had to do some modification to it.

Thanks. I love the way it looks, I bought a matching wheel to match the other 4, Once on there with the M/T tires, should look pretty sharp.

It's really nice of the vendor I work with to get some of my review systems. they just offered it to me out of the blue, and at first I declined, but they really encouraged me to do it.
