There are drawings on the Web for both frames, check them out.

My opinion, I used a Bed from a '95 Ranger on an '03 Ranger, so I'm guessing yes the Rear Axle will fit.

Another thought, use an Explorer, get new Spring Perches and shock tabs welded on.
If you choose right, you will have a Limited Slip, 4.10 gears, and disc Brakes all in one swap.

Front and Rear Bumpers by Custom 4x4 Fabrication, OK.

Ranger axles basically there are two the 7.5 and the 28 spline 8.8
96 and 06 not much differences........... the axle is a direct bolt in

You want to keep your original wheels that bad ?

Have you tried the 14" wheels on the '06 rear axle, they are both drum brakes , I'm thinking they should bolt on !

Most JYs have a used Wheel Pile, there should be something in 15" or 16" around that will work !

OR buy new custom wheels that you like !

Just consider this one of the hidden costs of swapping the rear axles.

There were 9inch drums on 2wd's too.
In fact I think on older rangers only the 4.0 and/or 4x4 and/or ext cab got 10inch drums
'96  2wd maybe had 9inch drums and 14inch wheels and the 14's don't fit around a 10inch drum?

they should! try it and see
7.5" rear axle had both 9" and 10" drums, my 88 BII had a 7.5" with 10" drums from the factory....pretty sure 14" wheels were shipped on similar trucks.
