Good day.  I'm looking at finally replacing the basic factory radio in my ranger.  I'm looking for a wiring diagram to allow me to properly wire and install the new one.  I've checked different forums and couldn't find one. I've looked online and the colour coding on what I've found doesn't matches up. Thanks In advance. Cheers.

Welcome MelZ, at least 3 of us here have wired multiple Rangerish radios, I'm going to the basement to look for my stuff but anyone can chime in. Now that I think about it, at least 5 LOL.

LOL I was going to ask what year it was, then I saw the thread title.

I have radio diagrams all the way from 98 to 2006 saved. The colors remained the same from 98 to 06 but I do not know about 08.

Attached is the 2000 wires, the colors remained the exact same through 2006 though the names of the connectors changed.

If you get a new radio it will come with a pigtail and color chart. You can get for cheap the male connector that is exactly like the back of your radio, I would advise that. Why? If you sell the ranger, putting the old radio back in becomes a 10 minute job with no wiring.

Just me, when you buy a new radio you can get a wiring adapter harness, either one specific to your Radio/Truck or you can buy both sides and wire the two together    ?

MelZ, Have you done this mod before ?

The harness radio side is included with new radios, a lot of e-bay support for lost ones or people buying radios from a scrap yard.

The ford side is sold all over, you splice it to the radio one and just plug it in. Then when you sell the truck you put the old one back in and you have the adapter to put your cool radio in the next Ranger you will inevitably buy.

I've rewired many things before.  Just starting with a wiring diagram helps with the speakers.  The main power I can figure out with the multimeter.  So many diagrams and all the colour coding is different makes it a pain.

Ie. the 2000 diagram posted is great but does not match at all. But thanks
