You may have already read 410customs build thread. If not, go read it. Those who have, have a general idea of what's to come. I'm excited!!

None of the mods planned are totally original nor is the combination to the best of my knowledge. That was never the goal. But I'm sure most here who have modded their truck have considered unique badges (emblems) myself included.

Do an extensive internet search and you'll find ranger shelby's, platinums, svts, lightening, and just about anything mustang or F150 related. Then there are those who plasti diped, blacked out, body colored, or used vintage badging.

The only ones I havent seen are ranger lariat, and 410customs idea of a ranger premier. While I like both of those it still feels like doing the same as everyone else.

I orderd a bunch of emblems and viewed hundreds more, I came up with a couple variations I liked and thought that solved the issue. Then I realized Itd be a big arts n crafts project and for the amount of work it will be individual and unique, but still just like everyone else's.

The factory appearance appeals to me. I also like sleepers. I know it will be hard to hide the rumble of the V8 or the 35" tires and lift. But thatll nag at pasers by and make them want to take a closer look. This is where the badging comes in to play. The right badges can give the appearance of a rare trim pack, high performance, or luxury model that they have never heard of. Lol.

Real estate for badges is pretty limited unless you want to plaster them all over. A majority of the emblems available look cheap or are not to the right scale.

After all this, I had an epiphany. Why confine it to be a one off "ranger" when It can be anything.

Why not do something like this....

Any thoughts? Everytime I look at it I think, who shot JR ( Ewing ) lol. Sacrilegious?

Then again, I could just leave the emblems as they are...

I lost my virginity in a Maverick.

You could eliminate the D in the above or the R in the regular and just have Anger......

Wait what? Your not a virgin? LMFAO

Blue magooo!
Thats the name of your project originally right?
What about Mr Magoo? the old cartoon character? He used to ride around in a little buggy?

Or Blue Magoo is a nice strain of Mary Jane, I found out yesterday doing a google search.
So we can hand paint whatever you want on your fenders and tailgate! Or we can 3d print emblems, We can get stickers made up, I mean these days the sky is the limit! You just need to pick something, don't worry you have plenty of time :)

It is Washington so....

Your truck is definitley BLUE!! that is for sure....Ford blue like Bigfoot!!

I don't name my trucks either except "you POS!" "You SOB!" or "good job, you're a good truck" which is the one I use the most.

If you are Mr Magoo then maybe we should do a little Mr Magoo dude riding a Small block?

I lightly scuffed the emblems and a flash card, washed them with dawn, then a 50/50 water n alcohol mix. After drying I hung the emblems and applied 3 coats of plastic adhesion waiting 30min or more between coats. I'm new to this so I may have put it on too thick on the smaller emblems. It comes out of the can like wd40. Not much fan at all. I'm happy with the big emblem but the smaller 2 I'm going to let set overnight and try and smooth down the heavy spots before I prime them. I know itll be hard to see but everyone loves pictures!
The flash card was being a pain as well. The primer I started with ran out before I could get one good wetcoat. When I went to get more the sun moved in and kinda cooked it. I tried to smooth it out and get one goodwet coat. I'll let it set overnight as well. I'm painting this vista blue so I can visualize better.

I need to get some sandpaper because the stuff I have now isnt cutting it.

The wet coat on the flash card laid flat with only one imperfection where it might not have been completely dry. I like it, I'll give it a lite scuff then another wet coat and proceed to the single stage vista blue.

The big black emblem looks good but the smaller 2 might not be plastic or the chrome coating may need to be completely removed. I tried to smoothe them out last night and most of the plastic adhesion came off. I just removed it everywhere but the letters. I'm going to hit them all with Primer and see what sticks!!!

Pretty good so far. The waiting IS the hardest part!!!
I went with black primer this coat because I thought it would be better for the flash card when I paint the vista blue.

For those keeping track. That's 4 coats of primer on the flash card and 3 coats on the emblems.

Good thing it's a 3day weekend at this pace I might finish.🤪

First coat of vista blue turned out great.

First coat of the matte black on the emblems turned out ok.

I went after a cat hair on the big emblem and Fd it up.

I'll be sanding that and making another attempt tomorrow.

After seeing the 2 colors next to each other it's looking like the vista blue is too dark but that's the whole point of the experiment right?

That's my blood pressure medication!! I'm pretty amazed that I only had one cat hair over the entire 3days considering my shirts usually look like a fur coat. They're my buddies. If they want to be a part of the project I can live with that. Yes, I'm a crazy cat guy. I know most here are dog people and that's ok.

I threw a second coat of vista blue last night.

But I wasnt sure it was dark from the black primer underneath so I put a 3rd coat on for good measure. Pictured wet.

I also put a second coat of matte black on the smaller emblems.

They are still wet in this image.

This morning I scuffed the big black emblem.

And repainted it with matte black.

The smaller emblems have been clear coated with a matte finish and are waiting for the second coat before I start messing with the vista blue to color the lettering.

I'll have my answer even if these turn out horrible.

Heres the finished flash card.

Here are the emblems after recoating the big one. They all have 2 coats of matte clear coat.

While I let these cure overnight I practiced my taping on these emblems.

These ones are for you velociranger!!!

I scuffed the big one but I was afraid of messing up my half assed attempt at taping so I just used a tack cloth on the smaller 2.

The N in the big one had a chip I forgot to hit with primer so I cheated and used a black permanent marker. You can still see the rough edges but not the chrome. Lol.

The purple hue is from the umbrella above. This is 2 coats of vista blue. Once I'm certain they are well covered I'll hit them with crystal clear coat. I just hope my creative juices stay put instead of going all over. Lol.

Who'd a thunk my macgyver trick would have bit me in the ass? Ugh...short cuts end up being the long way around...

In an attempt to fill the chip I sprayed some of the blue in a cup and dabbed a brush to add a glob but as soon as it touched the spot it bubbled and made a mess. Fixing your mistakes adds experience. Lol. If you can fix it.

I cleaned it up, sprayed plastic adhesion, primer, and matte black. It's almost the same level. I'll let it cure overnite then try n sand it smoothe and paint it blue tomorrow. It wont be the prettiest repair by far but I'll still be able to tell how the vista blue will look.

Wish me luck. I need it.🤪

Apologies for the delay. Fall chores, football, and family have taken me away for a bit but I have what you've been waiting for!!

Finished sets of fender emblem proto types. I do not own the rights to these so feel free to borrow them. I'll be flattered if you do.

Jumbo jumble

Standard chrome Ranger V8 set

Standard chrome Ranger Premier V8 set

Blackout Ranger V8 set

Blackout Ranger Premier V8 set

Blue n chrome Ranger V8 set

Blue n chrome Ranger Premier V8 set

Black n blue Ranger V8 set

Black n blue Ranger Premier V8 set

Maverick V8 set

Maverick V8 long set

Maverick sets are for my own curiosity and amusement.

Blue n chrome  Ranger with cherry red V8

This had been requested and at the time I didnt have the red V8 so I cheated used the stylus on my note. Lol. I have a cherry red V8 now.

It was pretty difficult to get good images on the flat. I had either a big reflection or a bad shadow. I can try a take better pics if anyone wants any except for blackout, it's become black n blue. I have one more I'll be attempting hopefully this weekend.

Questions or comments welcome.....

This one began the whole emblem exploration, but didnt make the final cut in the end.

Standard Ranger Lariat V8 set

Here are the ones that didnt make the fender but could find a home elsewhere or no where

I thought this might get some attention or questions at the very least but...

My ranger is a 3rd gen V8 conversion so I thought this might go well on the hood, anyone???

This is an attempt to explore my capabilities and have visual examples.

Enjoy!
