My neighbor has an 03 XLT that he has had since new. He purchased 2 remote fobs from a flee market vender thinking all he had to do was program his truck to work with them. His XLT did not come with remotes and he was unable to get them to work. He offered them to me and they worked. I gave him the $10 he paid for them.

For anybody else who needs to program a remote fob:
1. Open the driver side door and press the Unlock button on the drivers door while leaving it open
2. Turn ignition from OFF to RUN 8 times within 10 seconds leaving it in the RUN position. The door locks will cycle to indicate that you are in programming mode
3. Press any button on the keyless remote. Door locks will cycle to confirm. Repeat with any additional remotes
4. Turn ignition to OFF. Locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode.
