I have an issue with the plug on the engine wiring harness that the drivers side O2 sensor plugs in to. I need the wire positions & which colors go in which position in the plug connector, so I can get this fixed so I can get it to pass state inspection. I have a 1996-2008 service & repair information version 1.63 workshop manuals & wiring diagrams on DVD but it does not show the O2 sensor plugs. :( Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's been a few years but when I needed pinout info and I knew the connector number (found on the schematic), I'd head over to autozone.com and use the repair guides. Maybe they still make the info available. :D

No, AutoZone is useless, no repair guide for 2000 Ranger.

Any chance that the schematics reveal that the wire colors and pin #'s for the left and right bank O2 connectors are the same?

I checked the wiring diagram & it lists the colors of the wires & the circuit number for that color wire. It also lists the connector number & weather it is a male or female conector.:(

I think I have the pin locations figured out, I took it for a drive & the CEL is out. I will drive i a couple days to work & back & if the light stays out I will run it through state inspection.

He's got a 4.0. I replaced mine but do not have the part number. Did your code say bank 1 or bank 2?

Once you price them you might consider just doing one...

I don't care if they're $50-$70 each.  Once it's done I'll have the confidence & comfort of knowing I have another 100K+ before I gotta do them again.

My goal by spring is to have this truck as close to showroom reliable as possible.  This is most likely the last truck I'll have in this life, might as well do 'er right. :)

Going by Rock Auto's web site the part # for Bosch O2 sensors in your 98 are, upstream left - 15716, upstream right - 15717, & downstream - 15719. When I replaced the upstream l/s O2 sensor in my 2000 the original sensor was Bosch so I replaced it with the same one.
