so I found this site by accident.  Im building a daily driver travel  truck. 2000 reg cab, 302 t5 5 speed 2 wd ranger. Donor is a 2000 expo.
Was going to be a stock swap..that changed one night as  I sent in the garage looking at the engine on the stand.
I pulled the heads off to look at the cyls. In the 140k mile motor, they looked perfect! Like that had just been honed. So..I  got a set of yrack heat Twisted wedge heads, sent them off as well as the upper and lower intake  and tb to be ported.
Small Anderson.cam, 30lv injectors, 77 mm bbk maf, torque moster headers. Z-spec t5.. Truck gas every option available including keyless entry and 6 disc cd changer.. couple pics for now..
Waiting on the heads to get done..any day now.
Then finish putting it together and have it dyno tuned

EDIT: Guess you can only add one pjc per post?

Last one for the day....
So I decided to put an 'ape hanger' shifter handle in 30 inches tall. Its right at the rear view mirror
. Main reason is it is not a race truck, I know me very well. I race everthing I own.  So..Ill attach this to my pro-tower shifter and be done with it .NO BANGING GEARS!

I have info on the melling pump, I too tried to install one and it hit.

I'm a machinist by trade, and in one of the FB groups we measured the height of the stock ford pump and I measured the melling. The screws are what are too tall. I made a suggestion to remove the plate, countersink it for flat heads and replace the screws with flatheads. The member did just that and it fit fine. You would of course have to determine the thread of the screw first as I don't know it but I still have the Melling in the garage and could measure for you if you want.

Some people just beat divots in the bottom of the pan to clear the screws. I wouldn't suggest that.

Nobody that was using the Melling high flow reported any problems, but there were speculations by people not running them (yeah) that it was designed for a deep sump pan and could empty the stock pan during high RPM situations starving the engine of oil. I found no real support for this in my searches but are tossing it out to cover my ass.

Looks like you have done substantial research thanks for coming here and posting your project!

Nice work Joe. When I retire from full time work in a couple years my "plan" is to put a 5.0 in my 2000 Ranger 4x4 & in my wife's 99 Explorer Sport.

The melling hv oil pump for a 2000 explorer 302 will not fit the cast steel oil pan even if you take the bolts out of the housing. It is about a 1/4 inch taller.  I mean you can ding the oil pan and make it fit if you needed to, but not my thing to do.

Yes sir. I started reading and taking notes about a year and half ago.  So I would know personally whats going on with  all the little secrets . If you stay automatic, the swap is a lot less wireing to deal with . Still, not that bad.  This site is going to be my build thread . I like the layout better here. Im a long time.memeber on the other ranger sites.but face book has all but taken those sites down. Not much interaction any more on them

So..once I receive my Track Heat Twisted wedge heads back from the porter.. this will really start to take shape.  I need those to measure and order the pushrods. They were suppose to be here by the end of the week,  but I got home yesterday from work..and no package. Figures. Lol
No since in rushing now..its been sitting 2 years..another week or two wont hurt I suppose.

where the heck did you fond used TMH for $400 what a deal!
I would delete that big square trans plug and just run the rev wire and 02 sensors...you can jumper the NSS back up at the truck side of things........

Cant wait to see this come together....

I got lucky on one of the forums and there was a discussion about what works and doesn't.  The guy mentioned he had some that  he wasn't going to use..I just happen to be there right when he said that and immediately pm'ed him..paypal'ed him immediately befor he changed his mine..lol
But yeah..I think I'll get rid of that bulky plug . Clean things up. Ill even pulled the wires and de-pin the rest of the harness to clean it up some more.
My heads better be here this week or im taking a drive to Chicago to get them!

So..little thing I've been working on for the clutch resovoir.  .
As we all know, a leaking slave or master out in the middle of nowhere is a bad thing. And the stock resovoir's don't hold but what, couple tablespoons of fluid?  So been looking around for an idea on an aluminum piece.. and found some.  Then I was like you know what, Ill make one!  Got me a glass and marble drill bit from Menards today.  I had bought this baby jar of real Teemessee Moonshine I seen at a truckstop somewhere coming back from Florida. I dont drink but thought it was cool..sooo..I dumped the moonshine out and began drilling.. test hole. It will work out perfect.
Once I get the hole as big as it needs to be..ill insert a npt nipple fitting with rubber washers to seal it off and attach the clutch line
