My good friend Eddie Money has been complaining about how there is nothing going on the forum during quarantine
I assured him I will be blowing up the forum with threads in the next few weeks, as spring time is here and Im almost done with all my spring chores and about to focus on his 07 build 110%

Here is a new build thread for you Eddie!!

Dragged this home yesterday
Been looking for a standard cab short bed RWD to build up into a V8
This one fits the bill!! After months of searching shes home

She spent her life delivering replacement envelopes to ATM machines for an armored car company.... Well ATM's do not use those anymore so for the last two years she has sat. She starts right up, drives awesome, and has brand new tires! Now she is all mine....

My friends are telling me to keep it looking exactly as it does and just focus on the V8 and interior....a sleeper build.
I love the 14" wheels!
First RWD Ranger I/we have ever owned.......

This is a 1999 with coil springs, 4 banger, 215K on the clock
Thinking of stroker SBF, 327? 331?, perhaps supercharged, with custom 4r70w trans and disc brake rear...... late model interior and seats...... not sure if I should fix up the body or keep her looking exactly as she does.
Tossing around all idea's at this stage, it will be months before the build begins as I have the 07 to focus on but I will be gathering parts.
Perhaps a 4.6? 2.3 turbo? 5.4 lightning? Who knows what will find its way under this hood.....

As light as they get, manual locks, manual windows, no slider rear window, rubber floor liner.  It does have AC Im thinking of deleting that and removing anything that is not necessary, lighten this baby up to make her fast

He makes a good solid point, with the stay at home orders you would think more people would be doing ranger stuff
These are strange times nobody is exactly in their normal routine...we will get there!

Just tossing idea's around huh...
Well what about explorer/mustang IRS?
If you're going to make it fast why not make it really handle... ;)

Better cornering/handling with IRS
Bettet straight line acceleration with solid axle.

Now that's he theory at least...

A well designed solid axle setup will perform better then a "hackjob IRS retrofit" but that's not your style I think :)

Also what's cool about the irs swap is that they also have the Ford 8.8 with the Torsen diff. If I remember correctly the weak point on the 8.8 is the axle shaft u joint...but it's been a while since I've read about them so I may not even know what I'm talking about. What's Also cool with the irs is there's no pinion angle change on the rear end and no axle wrap because it's all in it's own little housing. It would be wicked cool for a daily driver street truck, except the mounts needed for the swap wold heavily intrude into the bed space. There's a thread over on grassroots motor sports of a guy who's doing an auto cross Ranger, I believe he put a 331 and a 5 speed with the irs. It's sweet lookin

1997 Ranger Ex Cab Manual 4.0 2wd, dead on arrival. Hopefully reviving for a daily driver.

1984 Ranger, currently in ≈861 pieces. She’s donating what’s salvageable.

I'm watchin both y'all😉‹â€â™‚️

Supercharged Snake engine could be pretty salty. For my 2cents, keep it as is or maybe make it look a little more distressed. I'm digging it.

Stock 5.0 block, 347 crank, aluminum rods, flat top pistons with extra valve clearance, gt40P heads with manly springs, XE274HR cam, roller rockers stock ratio, trick flow TFS-21400004 lifters.

Probably about 340HP at the engine. With the right intake and aluminum heads and 1.7 rockers on the intake it would be close to 400.

grassroots ranger was my screen saver for a few months, I love that thing

My dad has a 2014 Shelby gt500, the most powerful mustang ever built 650+HP ooooh la la
(until the 2020 Shelby that is) His shelby car they remove the factory IRS and install a solid axle......

He let me drive it!!!!! That's my dad and his car, us leaving Harbor freight

This Ranger is not going to be THAT fast...we just wanna have some fun with it! It will be as fast as budget allows :)

Ive recently learned the factory 5.0 explorer rockers are more like 1.4:1 then a true 1.6:1 so for those power goals a set of rollers with true 1.6:1 or 1.7:1 would be needed.
I built a 84 Ranger with a 370 crank HP crate 302.... that truck is pretty dang fast and it is a 4x4 with camper shell, camper setup, winch, metal bumpers, etc etc
I can only imagine what that 302 would be like in this little truck :)

ATK crate engine, gt40, 302 wth 370 crank HP
All fitted up to fit a 84 Ranger 4x4

Please send $$$$$ (not you Eddie I already have all of your $$$$)

This one will likely happen in Fall/Winter... Im thinking v6 Ecoboost? I dunno yet what will fall into my lap
I have two 5.0 conversions going right now the 07 and a 2000, also building a addition to our house so Im busy busy!!! BUT I also make deals!
I traded the v6 Ranger (3.0 to 4.0 second chance truck) to my neighbor for his labor building my house :) So he does the wood stuff I do the mechanical
I am also helping about three of you dudes with your wiring projects through email. I love it! Keeps the wheels turning, keeps wiring fresh in my head. I am preparing a how to wire explorer 5.0 AC system into a Ranger thread, this will help out a few ranger dudes who are doing the v8's right now....you know who you are!
I am laser focused on these two conversions, the 07 MUST get built in the next two months

Going to be 100 degrees this week in town.....yuck! The shop stays about 55-60 all summer long, so you will find me turning wrenches to avoid the heat!
Hang in there dudes
