Yesterday I got home from work & backed into the driveway to find a trail of fluid down the driveway & coolant dripping from under the truck. Today it was warmer (55°) I added water to the radiator & crawled under the truck the best I could & it looks like the drivers side of the engine block is wet & the coolant is dripping off the frame crossmember under the oil pan & the front of the bell housing of the trans. It has a new water pump & radiator a few months ago. Head gasket, freeze plug, intake gasket?. I guess it will sit until it gets warmer so I could pull the a/c compressor & p/s pump so I can get a better look at it. This stinks. I guess I am driving my wife's old 99 Explorer Sport until I can get this repaired. :(

Didn't you do the heads on that one? Check the bolts on the driver side on the intake and see if one backed off on you.

A head gasket usually don't blow to the outside on a water passage.

I bet it is something simple, do you have one of those tools that pressurizes the radiator? I bet you could hear it with the engine off.

New water pump doesn't equal no leaks!

I replaced the heads about 6 months after I purchased it, about 6 years ago. Yes I have a cooling system pressure tester.

I know, but it seems to be leaking further back. L/S of the engine block looks wet & it is dripping off the starter & the front of the trans bellhousing.

It is still cold down where you are Mike, I'm sure you will figure it out the minute it isn't freezing out. Nice that your wife will let you borrow her old car!

We are working on it, hoping it will be done sometime in April, all depends on the weather.

OK I had a 55° day today & I put some coolant dye in some coolant & started to fill the cooling system. It is dripping off the trans bell housing on the l/s (driver's side) & off the front of the l/s front of the cylinder head & there is some collected in a recess in the front of the head just below of where the upper p/s bolt goes in. You can see it with the black light on it. Is that a casting plug or what we used to call freeze plugs? If you look closely, you can see a faint blue line down the front of the block where it is running down.
