I replaced the upstream O2 sensor in my 2000 4.0 Ranger. When I reconnected the battery and tried driving it, the transmission shifted hard and the truck had no power. It drove fine in reverse though. The CEL is still on as well. I don't think it matters, but I replaced the oil as well before I started it back up Has anyone had this issue before? Is it a faulty O2 sensor?

Welcome to FR.

If those are the only 2 things you did. I think you would have to really screw up an oil change to have a noticeable change in power. But if you havent already check the oil level. Then, try putting the original o2 sensor on. If it runs as before the change, then it was a defective replacement.

yup sounds like you blew a fuse on the 02 sensor heater circuit

That tells me you have a short in a wiring harness thats blowing that fuse. I see it a lot on lightnings

or a bad out of the box 02 sensor with a dead short in the heater circuit
Check the wiring to and from the new 02 sensor
disco - batt cable is not a bad idea while checking things out
